Title: Could I build a coal forge out of a cast iron pot?

I have a 12" heavy cast iron pot and lid and was wondering if anyone has ever used one for a forge. I thought I might just drill some holes in the bottom for the forced air, would this even be possible or am I just wasting my time?

Probably could, but it's gonna be really small. You're going to need to put a lining in it w/ something like refractory cement or satanite.
That's not going to leave a lot of room for your fire.

I've seen one made out of a wheelbarrow tub.  They used some pipe and fittings hooked up to a small fan instead of a bellows.

I've seen forges built from almost any concieveable cast iron anything. The funniest I've seen was from a cast iron double sink. The second sink worked as a quench bucket. I assume you can use it but like LAR 43 said it's going to be small. Brake drums off trucks seem to work well if you should find one of those.
