Title: grinding hard or soft material

Im wanting to make some knives from some old lawn mower blades. Should I aneal them first, or just start grinding?

Everything would go a lot quicker if you anneal them first.

I reccomend annealing everything possible, if you have the means to re-temper. Its easier on you, as well as your tools.
