Couple of questions about a forge I am building.
I have seen several refrences for using kitty litter to make the lining for a forge. I have plenty of sand and grass for the adobe but no clay. Does anybody know a brand of litter that will work. My guess is that the cheap stuff will be best but am not sure. Also any brands of charcoal that will work. The local grocery store has 100% charcoal that is not in the bricquet (sp) form. Is this likely to be any good or full of imputities that won't help. Also what is the easiest way to get the charcoal burning the fastest and most even to begin forging.
Sorry for all the newbie questions but figure you all know more than I do and can help.

Tony, I use "COWBOY" Brand charcoal, it's lump charcoal available at the major home improvement stores. That works well for me. Can't anwser the other questions.

I'm not sure about the kitty litter but if I remember correctly they say to get the absolute cheapest litter you can. It's supposed to not have any added stuff to help keep down odors.
