Title: ceramic liner for forges?
Post by: farmboy on April 05, 2009, 05:29:00 PM
Hi guys,

I have a "johnson gas appliance" #101.  It looks like a mini forge.  It is cast iron construction with a liftable top about 9" long and 5" wide 5" deep.  It has 2burners with 3/4" tubes. It was lined with some kind of ceramic blanket but only 1/2" thick.

Has anyone heard of such a thing? I will try and get some pics posted.

I want to reline it and see if I can use it for forgeing/heat treating.

If it doesnt work I am going to build my own gas forge anyway.

Do any of you know a common supply source for ceramic blanket insulation or is it a very specialized product that only a few companies carry?

Thanx in advance
