Please pardon the impromptu "deck photography" here, but it was so nice I just had to take some photos outside. Seems like it's been single digit temps for three months!
Here is a 9 1/2" W2 clay backed bowie for that "hamon-esque" feeling.
The hardware is my old 1903 wrought iron.
Now, that handle is a piece of curly walnut.
There's about twice as much "curl" when viewed from the other direction, or in different light.
You guys know what I mean. It "moves" around. (Chatoyance)
I have a retired friend who cuts firewood to stay busy. He stopped by two years ago with a couple chunks he just cold bring himself to through in the fireplace! He gave me one that had this in it, and another one that I got two BEAUTIFUL "flaming" crotch pieces out of.
They had all been up in the rafters of my garage for these last two years.
I just sent them off to have them all stablized.
I already have another belt knife made from the "flaming" crotch, I just need to do some hot-bluing on that one.
This is a beautiful handful at 15 inches.
Thanks!
