Title: One for Robtatoo! (Rob Peel).
Post by: kbaknife on January 27, 2009, 07:14:00 AM
Rob asked me to make a knife for him to take on his upcoming Texas hog hunt.
Some of you know that Rob is from England. What others may not know is that he and his wife are moving to the US and are at this moment packing!
They've been dealing with immigration for some time now to get everything legal.
Isn't that strange? Going through "Immigration" to make your move to the US legal?
Anyway, I got his knife done yesterday and sent him this photo.
He's a little busy and asked me to post this up here:

  HOT DIGGETY PIG!!!!!

That's just perfect mate, I couldn't be happier with it!
The Ironwood is delicious. Beautiful colour variation & the blade is .......well.....it's perfect. Just perfect!
Would you mind posting it up on TradGang please?  (I can't type well with this big of a grin on m'face!)
Thanks for everything Brother. I can't wait to meet you in person & shake your hand.
Take care my friend.
Rob.

This was a clay backed/hamon treated bladed forged from 2 inch W2.
The mild steel take-down fittings were hot-blued.
And the handle is a pretty nice piece of Desert Ironwood.
I'm proud to have made it for our friend.

Karl, That is soooo nice! I like the combination of shades in the blade and the IW.

Maybe Rob can get to some of the regional knife shows and we can all meet up. That would be great.   :campfire:  Lin

Man, I certainly hope so.
I think his wife's got him on a short leash. We might have to sneak in and steal him!
(Just kidding, Rob.)
Once he gets settled in, I think we'll see him everythwere.

That might be a good idea!
"Cause if he looses that take-down wrench, he's in trouble!!
(I only make the first one for free!)

Rob, we look forward to having you here as a local resident.  Congrats on your new knife.
Karl, NICE.
If you haven't posted a photo of the "broken down" knife by now, it's past time.  Helps explain the neat feature of your knives.
Look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming Blade Show in late May.
Dan

I think your starting to get the hang of this knife building thing. It is a beautiful knife. Hope I can get you to build me a hunter/skinner someday.
