Title: What kind of Leather?(finished pics added)
Post by: Fritz on December 26, 2008, 05:41:00 PM
I'm just about finished putting an antler handle on and old buck knife a friend gave me and I want to make a crossdraw wet fit sheath to go with it (first try at this).  What type of leather would be best for this application and where can I get it?  Thanks for the help in advance.

Tandy leather sells tooling leather. ask them for 8-9 ounce tooling leather. You should be able to buy it in small amounts. any other questions there are plenty of guys here to answer you. ask away!

For wet forming, make 100% sure you get veg-tanned leather. Chrome tan or Alum tanned leather just doesn't work.
Anywhere from 6-9oz is good.
