Pair of Raptor signature Flatbows!
A red Oak, 72" 72# selfbow w/reflex tips. The best one I ever made. My boss talked me out of 4 of my bows for Christmas presents and I wish that particular bow was not in the group sold to him. The bad part is that it is just a "wall hanger" now.
We should not put a price on priceless things!!!
Terry
Original Bighorn takedown recurve(when G.Fred owned Bighorn) It was 64" 75# @ 28".
I sold it to get money to go on my first elk hunt back in 1987 or 88. I've been told it was given to a missionary (sp?) and is now in Africa somewhere.
DON'T let STICKHUNTER see this thread he will write 150 BOW NAMES DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first custom LB by Jerry Barr - Thunder Mt Lobo - 58" 52@28
My 60"53#@28 griffin with cocobola riser

The 50 lb Custom Kodiak I had back in '79
The one I really regret letting go is a custom for me LH 64" Dwyer original longbow, cocobolo riser, tulipwood limbs....anybody?

64" Habu Take Down Recurve. CS3. It wasn't much to look at, but it was smooth.
68" HH King of the North #7 , I kick my self in the arse everyday.
A 60" LH Quillian Bamboo Longhunter. It was plain in black glass and I sold it to get a purty clear glass bow. Big Mistake. That little Longhunter was the best non-recurve I've owned. Sigh!
1970 bear kodiak hunter 45#.Saved my paper route money for a year to buy this bow.Sold in 1987.
A guy at the club who sold my wife her wheelie bow was talking about this last night. He sold her this bow for a couple hundred dollars and a year later bought the same bow for 1500 dollars. She said if I ever spend 1500 for a bow I'd be hanging from the flag pole (or at least parts of me would be). I smiled and said my osage self bow I made cost $5 US for string material.
an ancient spirits chaokia.
Pomele Sapele riser, bamboo core, waterfall bubinga veneers.
61 @ 28"
shot 5 deer with that bow the first few months I owned it.
I KICK (mentally) myself eveyday about it.
BD
Sold my Martin Nighthawk to buy my MA Widow then sold the Widow. Wish I had kept them both.
Jim
Checkmate Crusader w/waterfall bubinga veneers and Hummingbird longbow w/Kingwood riser..
Rob,
That Ballistik was one heckuva bow. I made a shot of a lifetime with that bow. I was at a Deer Hunting Expo and was the key note speaker. Thye wanted me to talk about safety issues with hunting and I told em i would only come if I could talk traditional bowhunting and techniques, They finally agrees and they had a 3 d course set up for afterwards.
We were standing under a picnic shelter about 50 yards from the first target and they were discussing the course. They told me they had a special stake set up real close for me. I was the only one with trad equipment. I asked em if I had to use that stake and they said no. I shot from right ewhere I was standing and hit the 10 ring...BLEW THEIR MINDS MAN. The next guy pulled up with his compound at 20 yards and shot over the target.
Sorry for the long story but that pic brought back one of my best shooting memories.
back to the subject at hand...
I had a 59@28 Chaparral Alpine that i sold to a gang member. I use to call that bow "Money" because I would shoot against any compounder for money with it.

Yep, I even kick him now and then for selling that one. Purdiest and best shootin Hill type bow I ever seen.
I may eventually be sorry I sold my A&H ACS CX to Ray...he'll be shootin in longbow class with me now
Great Plains Palo Duro 55@28", 62". Fit me like a glove.
McCullough Griffin 60" 53@28". It was my first traditional bow, and was a great shooter. Still don't know what I was thinking!!! :banghead:
Bill
An old Rosewood Howatt Hunter that I bought from Humpy. I ended up trading it back to him, and he got rid of it. Very sweet bow!

Not a bow, but limbs. I had a pair of 66" limbs that were the originals on my Wallace Mentor, 57# @ 28". I sold them to somebody on here through the classifieds years ago, I didn't keep the records though. I'd love to have those back! :banghead:
I learned my lesson after selling a few firearms awhile back.Even tho I didn't use them they sure had alot of memories attached.Same with my Bamboo flyrods, just have a hard time bringing myself to get rid of any of them, even the ones I very rarely fish with.............so,I have not sold any of my bows, keeping them all because I know I'll regret selling any of them.
I had two bows I wish I had back. One was a bear grizzly I sold to help pay for my ex-wifes engagement ring, the other was a bear super mag, that I sold to pay my heating bill. Both bows are wallhangers now and that just kills me. I never got a chance to hunt with either one of those bows, but that grizzly put some serious holes in my Mackenzie black bear.
I have one that I am looking for. It is a 60 inch silvertip take down, rosewood riser, russian olive limbs with sheep tips, right hand, 55@28. Last I hear it was on the west coast in Oregon. Would really like to get that one back. tom
1. Cari-bow Featherhorn
2. CM Raven
1. 2 "B" handles that Fred signed for me
2. Robertson take down I bought in '87 or '88
3. Any of the numerous Bighorns that I bought
4. Just one of the longbows I made... it's in Hawaii now....
Just remember, when we have finished this life, and it's time for us to go, there is only one thing that's important... it's not the wealth you have accumulated over the years... it's not the friends... not about popularity... it's all about how many bows you've got! Nuff said! (forgive me Lord)
Shrew Chameleon!! But I sold it to my dad so it is not to far gone!! And someday it should make its way back home!!
Zipper Extreme (my first) with fade out limbs done backwards (by Bob's son), 55@28. Last I heard Foxbo had it...
same as flatstick : early bighorn TD 65@27 62 in. LH.. WHY did I sell that bow?? also had sold a widow psa but regained my senses and bought it back. Man that bighorn still haunts me.
My Rose Oak King panther I sold in October, and especially the habu death adder I sold last april. Would love to have it back now....
1.-1965,66' and 67' Kodiaks
2.-Massie Longhorn
bear take down, howatt hunter, pearson maurader...
Leon Stewart one piece osage longbow 62" 50@28". That thing was so quiet when I shot over deer they would not even pick up their head! :(
I've owned 3 compounds, 2 of which I've sold with no regrets. But after reading this thread I think I better start explaining to my wife that I'll need to keep every trad bow I own or will ever own. I've only been into the curves & LB's a couple years but find it amazing how attached I have become to some of my sticks & string. :archer:
Schafer silvertip, have owned more since then but none like that one!!
I traded my first black widow to a DR. in N.C.
59#@29' SA11, man i wish i'd never done that!
Browning Backpacker I - 55 lbs.
BillJ
Well, I'm the odd man out. No regrets on anything I've sold so far......
A Great Norther Ghost Recurve. In so many ways it was the most amazing recurve I have ever shot. Lost my job and waited until I was unemployeed for 4 months to put it up for sale and it sold so fast I didn't have time to reconsider. The guy that bought it sold it to someone else since.
I also sold a Kota Longbow I miss, an Anderson Skookum I found ayt a garage sale (he didn't know what it was and neither did I. 44# @28" and Beautiful, bought it for 50 bucks. Took it to a 3D in California and an older gentleman saw it and asked if it was a Skookum and asked if he could shoot it and offered me 800 for it on the spot. A 64# Osage Selfbow a guy traded me for a 65# double shelf longbow I had that a local UPS driver saw me shooting in John McCready's back room. He was a compound shooter and the selfbow just intrigued him. So I turn a wheel bow guy into a trad guy by selling him that bow cheap. I also had to sell all my Bear collectables in the year I was unable to work after my open heart surgery.I miss all of them. The 1952 Kodiak 62#, the '59 Grizzly 80#, '57 Kodiak Special 72#,the '66 Kodiak Hunter 54#. I'm gonna go cry in my coffee now.
I had a Norm Johnson Blacktail that was 62"s and 62#s at 28"s. I shot that as well as any bow I ever owned. It would be a bit heavy for me now with my shoulders but I would have some 51-54# limbs made for it. I once hit 10 out of 12 at the Muzzy shoot which if ya have ever shot it is pretty darn good. I have seen it up for sale once or twice but have never had the cash at thje time! One day!! Shawn
TimberHawk Osage 50#@28 :knothead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Great Northern Critter Gitter Special, 58" 60@28".
Bought it here sold it here. Almost identical to the bow I now covet at The Noking Point. Oh well.
Brian
A Bear "Bruin" longbow, not because its that great of a bow, just because I shot my first deer with it. I know the guy thats got it, but he won't sell it back. Bad thing is he never shoots bows anymore. Maybe some day.
Too many to mention, but the one that stands out would the Super Shrew Deluxe Limited I sold. Been kicking myself ever since. I will get another Shrew though.
Dan
This one.. A morrison shawnee with dakota limbs...
A plain, very old, Elk River Hill-style longbow.
It was the smoothest, quietest, least handshock, fastest, and best tillered Hill bow I ever shot. I get mad at myself just thinking about it...
I miss my martin howatt hunter it realy is a sweet recurve
!["" "[dntthnk]"]("graemlins/dntthnk.gif")

A striped ebony veneered, striped ebony riser 66" 58@29.5" takedown Royal made for me by Wes Wallace. That bow just shot where I looked. I took my first deer with that bow, one of the biggest mulies where I hunt. I wasn't foolish enough to sell it, it was stolen when I shipped it for refinishing. But, after three shoulder surgeries, I shouldn't be shooting it anyway.
I bought and sold a truckload of Bear and Browning recurves back in the 80's during my compound days. I'd buy them for $15.00-$20.00 at garage sales and sell them for $50.00 or so to help fund my newest most improved wheeled contraption and thought I was doing the right thing.
LOL, now you can't find one at a garage sale, I'd like to have all of them back.
The one bow of all time I'd most like to have was a 60" 1-Piece Bighorn (Asbell Era) Recurve. Great shooting bow.
I'm having a blast trying to find a bow as nice as it though.
Trap
Early 70's 50# Brazilian Rosewood Super Diabalo. Smooth as silk and fast as lightning. I sold it and bought a compound. Shame, shame, shame.
I'm another that is missing badly an Asbell era Bighorn. Mine was the Colorado model, but had the more deluxe models limbs. (The originals broke) Don't remember the specs, but something like 64" and 50+ @ 30". Not the prettiest bow I've owned, and not even the best shooter, but it was my first traditional bow and I kick myslef for ever getting rid of it.
50# Damon Howatt mamba
I had a 64",52#@27" Stotler Medalist recurve 1pc that I really regret letting go.That bow was just so sweet to shoot
68# elk mountain recurve by Appalacian Archery. Shot that bow a lot when I was in the Marine Corps. Used to shoot against compound shooters in a league with it.
Dan Raney
I had a Elberg Jaguar Special 60' long 60lbs hybrid longbow, custom made to my choice of woods and grip fit. It felt less than 55lbs. It was smooth and really smoked. Some "Michiganner Used Bow Peddler" gave me what I paid for it brand new (at the Kentucy Klassic in Nancy, KY). Wish I had it back. :knothead: Shot my first Trad harvest with it. If he reads this and still has it, contact me!!(fat chance!) :knothead:
A Blacktail Columbian..55@28..was a sweeeet bow
:knothead:
64" 56lb Cari-Bow Feather horn L/B...stupid..stupid....stupid..
Back when I thought it was the bow and not the shooter.
Like you, a 64" Wilderness Pinnacle, 49@28.
A 63# Wing C2 Metal handled takedown,62" long. I bought it in 1972,just after getting back from Vietnam. It was a gift to myself after finding out that my mom had given my Ben Pearson recurve to a cousin while I was gone.
Everyone who shot it would always comment they could shoot it better than any bow they had ever shot. I traded it to a man for a pair of Zeiss binoculars--he wanted it that bad. I got the best of that deal, but wish I had`nt of done it,it was that good of a bow. Bob
I sold a beautiful Schafer Silvertip last year to Stickbowslim that I wish I had back. Don has agreed to sell back to me some day but I wish I'd not sold it in the first place.....

WOW Mike, I would have contemplated selling my first born before selling that Silvertip, Just kidding of course but that's a beauty. Trap
Mike ...I feel ur pain...that slivetip is awesome!!
ACS-CX one piece made by O.L
Silvertip made by Paul Schafer
and some more.......
75# Schafer Silvertip.
58" Charcoal Dymondwood with charcoal stained limbs and ivory tips. Would give about anything to get it back. Too cheap/broke to buy another one.
Here's a hint: If you currently own a Schafer and are thinking of selling/trading it, DON'T DO IT!!!
Wow Mike! That's an awesome looking 'Tip! I love my one! I don't think I'll ever sell it! What were the specs of yours?
Nigel
Sold a few Centaur's in the past that I regret, recently got one of em' back! I was always looking for that "ONE" bow! I finally realized that I'd already found it! Centaurs! I have two now, gettin ready to order another.
Jr.
Were ya at MOLSON
Ignoring this thread! I don't want to talk about it...... :banghead:
I got back one of them I sold :knothead:
1971 A handle with chrome latches, dead mint....
That's funny Brother Dean! Well I have to admit I have THREE. My 58" Kohannah Kurve[ I don't think I had it in the woods], my 58" Mahaska recurve, and my 62" 45# Turkey Creek.
Silvertip by Windauer. 60" and 55#@28". Walnut dymondwood riser with Russian olive limbs. I have a few other tips now but for some reason that bow was the "ONE"
A LH 64" Massie Longhorn, with bamboo limbs and ebony/bacote riser, 51# @ 27". Dumb dumb dumb. I search the classifieds for it all the time. What a stupid thing to do.
A Marriah Chinook I had, Ebony wood riser, Bloodwood limbs and Mastodon Ivory tip and riser overlays. One of only two longbows that I was consistent with, and very unique to boot...Mike
Signed Bear Custom Kodiak Takedown from the first year that Bear started making them again in Gainesville. Fred picked a few of them out and signed them and they were special ordered as Signature Takedowns. Had the original sales receipt and sold it with a set of #1 and #3 limbs a few years back. DUMB ME! (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e173/Yellowdog3822/P3190038.jpg)
Widow TFV, 51@30.
My first ever Widow. Beautiful PSA that I let go in a moment of lack judgement.
foolish

What a painful thread (grin)! I would sure love to have my old Martin MX-800 takedown back in my hands. A few years ago, I sold it to someone in Europe and will never see it again (Oh, the pain).
Dave in Ft. Collins, CO
I sold to someone that never used it or was worth the time to deal with, a Black Widow LAG T/D. Never should have sold that bow....
But I've had luck too. I bought back my PSA X Osage a few months back off the lad I sold it to.... Same price as well. I'll never sell another bow....EVER!
A.K
John Maus "Desert Storm" LB; 60",51@28. Osage and Cocobolo. Nice.
a particular FF Silvertip that seemed to have a special mojo about the way it fit me ..... a 1 piece longbow made by Sley that also had a something to it ..... a 3 piece TD Hummingbird that fit me
of the many bows those 3 stay in my memory but I do have my orig pre-acs Adcock and a all bamboo Zipper I'm proud to say !
A 62" Matlock X2 that smoked and fit me.Also a SA widow I had and then last but missed the most a three piece takedown longbow Casey Allen made .RC
Mike, Isn't that MY old Schafer??? I am pretty certain of it. I wish I hadnt sold it, either!!!
I really regret selling my Morrison Shawnee. I bought it second hand but it was my favorite bow. Would love to buy it back. Rich. (http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/richbear/Morrison1.jpg)
I'm sure glad Joe messed up though and sold me his ACS CX...I'm shooting great with that bow.
Yeah Ray, we both messed up sellin that Schaefer...I may have another one built to the same specs with that Shedua wave design
Me I've sold hundreds of different bows over the years. But thats what I was born to do.The most painful of them all!!!!!!!1945 Glenn StCharles static tip yew wood recurve (yes a static tip is a non-working recurve)with whale baleen on the back and belly. Both StCharles whale pictue decals intact and mint.Man that one hurts still bouts everyday....I got a lot of scares from beating my head on the work bench for that move, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.I used the dough to buy my first computer and camera..........bowdoc
A Northwind Gem Reverse handled Longbow. 60" amo amd 50# @ 27". Osage limbs with a Cocobolo riser and limb tips, black elk leather on the riser.
That bow was a little sweetheart. But alas I was tempted by a snakey osage number who turned my head yet again.
I'd be interested in getting the Gem back home!
My top 'wish I had it back' bow would have to be a Super Shrew Delux, 57#28", 58" gray actionwood with black grip/shelf, black and white micarta riser and tip overlays and a gloss finish. It said PBS on it, I believe it was a donation/raffle bow by Ron L. Pretty little bow, got it used, really liked it.
Then there was a Hill Big Five, 68", 53#@28", Ebony riser, tan leather straight grip, matte black glass over bamboo. Sweet.
And a 63", 51# Green Mountain D-style longbow with Cherry limbs and Cocobola riser....
Come to think of it there's a number of bows I wouldn't mind owning again. Goes to show there's no such thing as a Holy Grail bow. Its all in what you make of what you have.

65# saluki ibex.
I hate even thinkin' that I sold it....good to get that off my chest.
Sky Hawk it will be the best bow I ever own and shot. Until I die and get it back in heaven.
A 64-inch, 55# bamboo cored Great Northern Critter Gitter. I've always been partial to Critter Gitters, and have had several and still have one, but this one was something special -- the smoothest drawing bow, and very nice to look at. Doubt I'll see it again. Sold it to a nice fella in France. Nope, not Novelli. He got my Morrison Shawnee. :biglaugh:
I had a Sabertooth Shrew longbow that seemed to be magic....50#@26".....boy I do miss that one......
45# Martin Dreamcatcher.
63 lb green mtn longbow by Jim Duculos sold it at ETAR 4years ago !@#$%
I sold a Black Widow PL111 TD and about 8 months ago I bought it back from somebody else. Glad to have it back.

A PSRV 50@30 that I sold and regreted it ever since. Saw this post and started thinking about it. Contacted the the great guy I sold it to and he said it didn't work out for him, a little too much weight, and it was hanging on his bow rack in the same condition I sold it to him. Worked out a deal and this good shooter is on it's way back home!!! Thanks Jim.
A Habu Death-adder, i sold it to someone on this site about a year or so ago, for financial reasons. I would love to have that one back, best bow i ever had.
