hey apologies if this is a repeated question but could one of you pros give me a link to a site that gives a build along to making knives out of sawblades? i have access to quite a few and wanted to try and knock a few out
thanks in advance

i dnot know of a build along but besides heat treating your imagination is the limit.
to anneal the blades even though it isnt very precise you can actually use your bbq pit, you want to get the steel to nonmagnetic which is glowing orange, you want it to where a magnet wont stick to it.
after you get it to nonmagnetic put it in a bucket of wood ash with some hot coals mixed in, the point is to cool it as slow as possible.
the next day when it is cool it will be soft enough to work, get it ground how you want and the pins drilled.
next you need to take it to nonmagnetic again, once it's there you can quench it in warm (around 120 degrees f) transmission fluid, dip it edge down and DONT touch the bottom of the pan with the edge.
after hardening it will be very brittle so yo will need to temper it (while wife is away shopping) put it in the oven for two one hour cycles at 375.
sorry for the choppy walk through im kind of in a hurry

thanks for the info bits,
im havin trouble trying to figure out a way to attach the scales to the tang, any suggestions
-
rough up the back of the scales and the tang with a low grit sand paper, clean both surfaces with acetone or rubbing alchahol.
buy you some devcon 2 ton thirty minute epoxy at ace or home depot, DO NOT get the five minute stuff it isnt near as good
-
thanks man i appreciate all the info its helping alot, what do you use for pins?
-
you can gp to home depot and get 3 feet of 3/16 brass rod for like five bucks, or you can order whatever you want from texasknife.com
