This is a new sawmill blade--26" dia.---with carbide tips---We can get plenty of these, but what type of metal are they???? How will they be to cut up and make blades out of them????? THX in Advance...SKYLER (http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/rickybob_2006/CIMG3108.jpg)

Not sure i always buy the oldies. carbide is normally not good steel for knives. But on this I am not sure. make a knife and see how it turns out?<><

I think that the maine part of the blade is L-6 steel, that is what I use for most of my knife making. You need to use a cut off wheel to cut it up and when you drill it use colbolt drill bits. Good luck, and if you have anyquestions feel free to ask, Dave.

Cut off a chunk and try hardening it. Put it in a vice and whack it with a hammer... if it snaps clean off it'll make a knife. :)
