Title: Preventing scratches from snaps?

I'm working on a sheath for a knife I made a while back.  My plan is to make a flap on the top to come down over the handle and to put a snap on it.  I'm worried that the half of the snap that I put on the sheath part (not the flap part) may scratch the handle when I'm putting the knife in the sheath.  If that makes sense.  Is there any way of covering the snap on the inside to prevent this?  I thought about gluing a very thin piece of leather over it on the inside.  Thanks for the help.

Install the snap then line the sheath with a thin leather and stitch it up as normal.  I have a bunch of 1-2oz leather... let me know what size you'll need and I'll send you some.

Thanks.  I've got some really thin deer skin I can probably use.  I'll see what I can come up with.

You can split the leather install the snap then glue the split. That way you will not have a seperate piece that could cause a step when sliding the knife in.
