Title: knife making
Post by: rod sarver on October 16, 2008, 10:12:00 PM
I'm just starting to make a few knives and it's really getting under my skin. I'm wondering what iron is good for blade, from stuff just laying around. (lawnmower blades, plow sheers, rebar etc. Thanks alot - Rod

Spring steel. I specifically like large truck springs.

I can reduce them down in size by forging and get a lot of material and the forging process seems to help the blade become tougher.
