Forged this blade out of a coil spring yesterday. I plan to use the antler end for a handle. If you have any picks of bowies with antler bur handles please post here.
Thanks

I cleaned up the spine to give it a better profile and started on the handle - I need to get back to the shop and forge something cool for a finger guard.

im diggin that, looks like you found the right antler. what kind of gaurd are you putting on it?

I am thinking something wrought Iron and oblong with a little file work around the edge maybe. Something pretty simple and solid. I will probably weld it to the tange on the back side and bury that in the handle. I want it to look old, as if it was traded for some furs at a spring rendezvous in the 1800's so I plan to leave the forged look on the blade although I may drop the point a bit.

sound like a plan to me. i can see it with a curved gaurd in the front, anyone would be proud to own it
