With all the great knives in every size & shape on this forum....What is Your personal hunting knife that You carry (be it your own made or someone else)?
I've always liked a small three finger knife, 6 1/2" AOL, a paracord grip for non-slippage, and a cross draw sheath...with or without a Bud Popper :) tippit

Either...

Or...

The little Ian Bailey Damascus is a fantastic blade. Cutting edge is just 2-1/2" It just has an amazing tactile, weighty quality about it. I find it very difficult to not play with, it just feels so nice in my hand.

You mean I have to choose one??!
I haven't decided yet. Could be this one:

Or maybe this one:
Or this one:
If I have time to make one for me it'll be the sister to this one:

Hah! I know what you mean! If I'm honest I don't actually have 'A' hunting knife. I have many, many hunting knives :D The difficult part is trying to match my knife with the rest of my outfit! (Accessorising is simply everything daaahhling!)

I'll take this one that I just finished till I make a better one. (http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn293/coonpeter/Antler008.jpg)

I know ya'll have plenty of knives and could take a different one each time...But if you could just take one for Hunting...field dressing & skinning?
That's the one I want to see..not cause it's pretty but most functional for You. There, I made it a little harder...I think ;) tippit

One more thing, why do You prefer a long or short knife for hunting? tippit

this was my fav all round knife it skined chopped and dressed and it was big. i named it F.O.A.K ask bob walker what it stands for as he is the owner of it now LOL!!! made out of carbon steel with rimu handle. it was a bitch to make but hey it is heavy. :D (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh305/jeffburg/CIMG1408.jpg) plus i have a new knife to play with now (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh305/jeffburg/CIMG2379.jpg) :goldtooth:

I'll try this one first off this year.

This one is my current carry all the time when hunting or 3ding.
I really like the smaller one because it has a crossdraw sheath, is easy to sharpen and holds an incredible edge. Plus you can't go wrong with anything forged by Doug Campbell.

well, i would show you but its about 7 hours away getting a sheath made for it

Got 3 I plan on for now.<><

I'd show you mine too, but Sticshooter and Shell has it right now.

Right now, it would have to be my Baker drop point;

She's got about a 3 & 3/4" blade made of S30V, made out of some tapered thick stock, sweet grind and a fine edge. It fits my paws right well. I also have a Buck Vanguard that I'm pretty fond of. I like about 4" or so blade. They seem to handle a lot of tasks well and a 8" OAL well made knife fits my hand well.

This has been my knife of choice for the last 25yrs. (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y215/JOHN4Mystikbow/100_2377.jpg)
I have gutted and skinned everything from squirrels to white Tails, upland game birds, waterfoul and fish. I think I'm going to retire it this year and use this one that I received from Frank in this years knife swap.

Hmmm, the "one" delema has me stumped. I carry a few when out hunting I guess, as well as a different assembly when out hiking, bushcrafting, stumping, flyfishing, camping and the like.... But this year:
A Helle Fire (I have removed the fire steel from this sheath all together since Helle knives absolutely suck for sparks) is in the kill pack:
My Enzo Trapper (on the left) will be on my belt for chores:
And this little trade knife necker is usually around my neck in the woods as well. I bought it from G. Fred Asbel, so I keep hoping it has some of his mojo. Alas, I haven't taken any animals since I bought it!
So, does three knives count? I may cut out the fire or the trapper to save on weight since I am backpacking it in this year...

Very nice everyone! This is kind of a fun break to see what is going to the woods this fall. Thanks...tippit

I use a Muela Ibex because my father saved some good $ for it to be a great present for me, that and it is a fantastic knife with rosewood handles. I dont use my knives in the woods much, i used to but found it to be bad luck for me!
-
My old Western W36. I've been using this one for over 20 years and consider it my "lucky knife". Also keep my little Swiss Army in my pocket any time I don't have to go through the airport metal detectors.

these two are my favorites so far this year and it will be a coin flip to see which will be going in the woods with me this fall.
