Title: Binghams
Post by: recurvericky on January 22, 2008, 08:53:00 PM
I just received an order from Binghams. There were several thick lams used to protect the lams and glass that I order. The thick lams were mark "packing material". My question is, can these lams be used for accents on the back of the riser and knocks?

Sure thing Ricky. Most times there is a flaw somewhere on em caused by bandsawing or a knot or split that makes it unusable for a lam. You throw away a lot of wood makin lams! LOL

Save 'em and use 'em! That's one perk to ordering from Bingham. I got some really nice bacote and cocobolo in the past. Here is some of what I did with it.

Thanks Kennym. The shipping pices looked better than the lams I ordered as far as the grain.

Kenny nailed it.  Wood is wood.  If it's solid in the length you need, use it.  As for limb lams, if any imperfections are near an end, this may be just the stuff you need to make a kids bow!
Bodork, MOST EXCELLENT overlays.

yah...the last order I got from binghams was packed with bocote and yew strips...I used the bocote for limb tip overlays along with some other stuff on my LB, and then use it for a handle spacer lamb in my BB-bulletwood glue up.  looked great between the boo backing and the bulletwood.
