Anyone have any recomendations on "50's" style recurves to check into? I have a thing for the simple lines and curves of bows with this shape. I've got a list going that includes the Bears Paw swift, the Great Northern Ghost, the Kota Prairie Swift, and the Mahaska recurve. Any others to think about? What do you like or dislike about these various makes? And don't hesitate to throw in some pics for eye candy!

GREAT BOW GREAT PRICE AND A GREAT BOWYER(J.D.)
Ron King of Fox Archery has one called the Breed, give him a call 1-541-886-9110, you wont find a better person to deal with,Ron and Debbie are great people.
Fox Breed.
Sovereign Trident
Haven't shot the others, but I have a Ghost with bamboo limbs. It is very smooth and fast. Workmanship is top notch.
I have two Ancient Spirits Kadiaks, a Little Bighorn, and a Kohannah Kurve. All good bows.
Great Northern Ghost gets my vote, but also look at these:
Kota Killum
Saxon Recurve
Kohannah Kurve
Robertson Peregrine
Thunderstick Ramhorn
Acadian Carbon Reflex
Monarch Recurve
Hands down IMO whisperstik!!!!!! awesome bows great guy!
Thanks guys! I'll deffinitely be looking into these bows! Apex Predator, what woods did you have your ghost made from? I saw pics of it in a different thread and like the way it looks.
I think one you can't afford to leave out is Jim Reynolds' Thunderstick "Ramhorn."
I have a 54"er that I love! It is light, quick, simple, pretty, and hardhitting. It is also priced VERY competitively in today's market. He also makes a 58" and 60" version, I think, but the shorty handles my 29" draw very well (to my surprise!).
You may not see it on his site since he concentrates more on longbows these days, but the Ramhorn is a great bow at a great price!
I'd sure recommend you at least speak with Jim. He's a fine man, and a Trad Gang sponsor.
Daryl
Robertson Peregrine
Griffin 59er since it isn't on the list yet.
Sovereign Trident again.
Another vote for Robertson Peregrine
Thanks aain guys! Now I just need to get my hands on a few of these wonderful bows to make a decision!
Here's my 2 Mahaska recurves.

My vote goes to GN and GN Super Ghost. I have a Whisper Stik on the way so I will have to wait on that opinion. I hav eshot several others and so far the GN beats them all.
Fedora makes a great "old school" looking recurve.
Black Widow PSR
Robertson Peregrine
Super Shrew Scout
and Bucky's Mahaskas :)
Horne's Mountain bow and Bucky's two Mahaskas.I owned a Mahaska not the fastest bow out there but quiet and shot where you were looking. These two recurves I mention are very reasonable for custom bows too.

I have a BearsPaw swift and it is the quietest bow I ever owned. I really enjoy shooting this one. I hope you find what you are looking for, Give Neil a call.
