Does anyone have any info on the thunderstick
M.O.A.B
How they perform? Are they smooth & accurate?
ETC.
Very nice bow
Excellent bow.
The MOAB is a excellent shooting bow, smooth, fast, and has one great grip. Jim is very good to deal with, keeps his prices low, and does alot for the archery community, like donating bows to raffles. His bow are beautifully crafted and excellent performers.
Yes mine is due in april cant wait.
The problem I have with mine is that I spend all my time dragging and cleaning animals, almost unfair to the critters. Top o the heap both the bow and the bowyer.
Where's Terry??? He's a moab nut.
Super fit and finish, uses top of the line woods, quiet, smooth, pretty quick and as lefty mentioned, an excellent grip, imho.
Terry has one with Tamo ash on it that is simply stunning...one of the prettiest bows I've ever seen, period.

I don't think I could have said it any better myself. I always had a love/hate relationship with longbows until I got a MOAB. But after a very short period of time, it found its way into the deer woods with me while my recurves stayed at home.
Thanks very much for your responses. You guy's make shopping a lot easier.
Yeah Boy!!!!!! I gots three....and a 'MOAB To Go' on the way. Finnaly talked Jim into making a takedown version.
For what its worth....the 60" is smoother on the draw, quieter, and more dead in the hand than the 62".
Here's a few criters with a few MOABS....
1st is 'With Authority'....a 70#@28, and 'with authority' was the 1st thing that popped into my mind on the 1st arrow I shot out of her....and her 1st hunt was a success.......

Here's a 60#@28 named 'Sizzle'...cause she really brought home the bacon, and on her 1st hunt as well....here's the three she took that weekend.....

I committed this 60 inch - 64#@28 MOAB to taking a big buck, and named it "Tines" the day I got it. I have been taking this bow exclusively here in GA for 2 seasons hoping to get a nice buck with it. The lams are Tamo Ash, and the colors of the limbs represent the many colors of the tines we chase. And did I ever take a nice buck with it!...a 140 class 260# bruiser ten point. Bout as pretty as they come......

Nice pics Terry, nice bow too.
:)
I've shot my Dad's a few times...the thing is crazy fast and handshock is minimal. He better keep a close eye on it!
I had one and she was a sho nuff shooter. The only thing I got with her was a javalina before I regretfully sold it. :banghead:

I received my MOAB on a Tuesday. Four days later I turned it loose on some WI whitetails. Meat in the freezer.

I had one, but the grip and bow just felt too small in my hands. Ended up trading it for a Great Plains, which I felt and still feel was a good deal.
I had a Thunderstick III (stolen) and replaced with a MOAB. 62# @27" I pull about 63#+ with it. Smoothest bow I've shot. I had Jim make the handle as large as he could and it fits just right in my hand. Less R/D than the TS III but shoots faster. The TS III was @4# lighter, but the MOAB shoots 10 f.p.s. faster with the same arrows. Super bow from a great guy.
Terry,
Why do you think the 60" is smoother than the 62"
I sold the one I had and still regret it. In fact, I am looking to get another. Great shooting bow built by a great guy.
Dan
I had both the 60" and the 62" at the same time, and they were the same weight....and the 60 incher was the better of the two all around. Couldn't find an advantage for 2 inches more.
I was told that my findings were the norm.
Jim told me the 60" is a better performing bow as well when I placed my order, two years ago. Didn't regret listening to him. I thought the first time I shot her that the arrows were in the target before I could blink. So named her "augenblick" (blick of an eye) in German. She is one fast and forgiving bow. 62# @27". So far a yard rat, and one Rio Grande tom to her credit.
I'll let you know any day now. I had Jim make a Thunderstick mag for me. It oughta show up soon.
BobCo1965....I know what you mean. I had Jim make a larger grip on mine. I had him add a bit of heel to the grip to give me a bit more meat to hang on too.

Yup, that's probably what mine needed.
What was your reason for choosing the mag over the moab? What would be the differance between the two?
Do they have a website? I have done numerous searches but just comes up blank. I would be interesting in checking them out.

Thunderstick Archery
thunderstick archery he is a sponsor I believe.
BobCo 1965; I had a used one that had a small grip. Gat Jim the serial number and asked to have about 1/8-1/4" all around, it came with a bit of plam swell and I love it.
Mmmmm, love the MOAB - it's everything Terry sez about it: super smooth and FAST. Mine's a 60", 52# ...

You haven't even got the grip broke in. Nice bow.

I made up some new arrows for my MOAB a few weeks ago and finally got to choronograph it with those arrows today. Right at 8 grains/pound. 6-shot average was 210 fps. I've never owned a recurve that fast at 8gpp.

Jim Reynolds is a sponsor here. Look at the top of the Pow Wow page and click on the ThunderStick Archery Picture.
Jason R. Wesbrock: what length is your moab thanks. chubber
Jason what poundage do you shoot????? MOAB
Chubber: It's a 64" MOAB. Jim usually only makes them up to 62", but with my long draw length he decided to make one a little bit longer.
Bayoulongbowman: It's 55# at 32".
I just bought one used. Looking forward to taking her for a spin. Skinner

Heck, if the arrows I have with me fly decent out of it when I pick it up, I may even use it on my hog hunt next week. :)
bihunter............Are you sure he will make one 25# @ 26"??? LOL
Has anyone shot the mag? I'm wondering how it compares with the moab.

Robert,
I've never shot his MOAB, but I do have a T-Mag (50# @27). I've never chronoed it, but it seems to throw a heavy arrow with authority. Jim is a really great guy to deal with. Great bows for a great price.
God Bless.
Terry, what kinda take-down system is it?

What kind of search did you do???
They are Sponsors here, and they also have a BANNER on this forum.
Zane,
He is going to use the BW system on mine.
