Hello. My name is Sam and I'm a new member. I started late with bows (58) by buying a used compound bow, taking a lesson from the shop and shooting off and on. When the bow went haywire (loose guides, etc) I visted a local shop where I found a really nice and knowledgeable owner who fixed my bow and sold me a few matching arrows (lost all of mine) and gave me a lesson basically for the price of the arrows and parts. Of course I went back. I saw that he had many recurve and longbows and he himself shot a longbow, and I guess that really seemed like archery to me. To make it short, a few more visits and a new recurve later, I'm shooting instintive and love it. Of course I'd like to hunt and also, maybe move to a longbow. All opinions welcome and thanks.
:knothead: I wish you good fortune and straight shooting.

Welcome enjoy the journey. :campfire:
Welcome to the world of tradition archery, but what was more important was when you picked up that compound and entered the world of Archery....
Welcome aboard!
Working on your form will be very important. If your like the rest of us, you will have good and bad days. Be deliberate when working with your equipment. Shoot every shot like it is your last. Except nothing less than perfect arrow flight. It may take a while for it all to jel but when it does, there's no other feeling like it. Most of all, enjoy the ride and try to make some of the shoots to meet some of the fine folks that hang here. Well worth your time and effort.

Welcome to the natural way. :archer: :clapper:
Oh yeah, Jacob was a mamma's boy compound shooter too.
Thank you all for the welcomes and the advice

You'll enjoy it. Welcome
Welcome! If you get a chance, try a longbow--I like 'em better than recurves!

Glad to have you Sam. Since you are from Illinois (the heart of big buck territory) you seriously need to take advantage of that.
