So I thought I would start small and work my way up :)
Made this out of an old saw blade so I left it beat up. I should be able to put some scales on it this weekend.

Now that was fun!

Nice!!!!
I have a Damascus blank that looks almost identical.Fits the hand perfectly for a skinner.
-
Looks like a great shape. Well done!
-
I like that shape too. It reminds me of a buck mini-alpha. How long is it? Great job. Looking forward to seeing it w/ scales. Larry

That a very nice looking necker. Are you going to drill holes for the handle?<><
-
Thanks guys...the shape is like so many I've seen here and worked to fit the hand, and it does!
Frank, I went about as far as I could last night and thought I would leave the drillin' for today.
Two 1/16 finish nail pins? What do you think?
-
WOW I don't know much about making knifes but i know alot about wearing and using them... that is killer.
-
Ok....so here is where I got today. Not far but with two young boys, this is a lot! :)
I drilled two 5/64" holes for my pins, and one 1/4" hole for better bond with the epoxy (?). I was going to do an antler handle, but I have some nice cocobolo that I think will look great.

I hope to put some scales on it tomo.
Untill then....

So I found some time today, and this is what I came up with....I went with the cocobolo and I think it turned out nice. :)

The handle needs a few more coats of oil, and I need to get some leather for a sheath.
This is so addicting...my next will be a rather large Helle Lapland...I can't wait! :bigsmyl:

She's a beaut! :clapper: :clapper:

Yes, it turned out really nice. Good job. And I like your choice of BH's.
-
Nice job on the handle! What's the overall length and blade length? Larry
-
Thanks all.
Larry, I missed the length question on your first post: OAL 4 1/8" and the blade is exactly 2", with about 1 1/2" working area...Not sure how it happened but it just looked right.
