started playing around with some carbons...im shooing a 40# treadway.....the carbons im using with a 175 tip only weigh 375 grains(.628 spine)...the bow is not cut to center and i have a 450 plus fastflight string...the bow is quiet enough, and i shot my best round tonight at the leagues...im shooting between 8-9 grains per pound...I really like this set up..but im a bit concerned on possibly damaging the bow...what are your thoughts?? i'll give treadway a call tomorrow.
8 - 9 gpp shouldnt damage the bow at all. i think it would take alot less than that. I think the general rule for hunting is at least 8 gpp, Im sure you could get away with less than that for targets.
I would say you have nothing to worry about. Your only 25 grains from the magical 10 gpp mark.
Best of Luck to Ya.
jacobsladder.....back many a moon ago we shot very light arrows for field rounds...112 arrows per round...probably as low as 7 grains per pound at times with no effect on the bow. With a 40 pound bow you have little concern as long as your tips are made for low stretch strings.
Sounds like you have a great set-up if you're shooting well. Don't change anything.
Your well over the 8gpp most bowyers set as their warranty mark so you should have no worries.
thanks to all!..i will touch base with mike treadway also...thank you.
