Title: Turkey heads
Post by: Hot Hap on February 02, 2007, 10:25:00 PM
I have 4 Hilbre broadheads that look like they left the factory yesterday. With the plastic ferrule, are they strong enough for turkeys? Thanks Hap

I'm going to vote no...

Although turkeys aren't cape buffalo...plastics from way back then weren't as advanced and stable as they are now. You might not be able to tell just from looking, but that plastic may be a bit on the brittle side. I wouldn't risk it. From what I understand, those plastic ferrules weren't all that durable when they were NEW.

I used to use razorback five blades out of a compound years ago, they had plastic Ferrel's killed a lot of deer with them including some spine shots and other hard hits. I never had one fail but i don't know if they are built the same as the ones you mention.

Cool BH, But I wouldn't chance it...turkeys have super hard bones!  BIG sturdy BH's are the way to go...
