Well just wanted to post some pics of a new beauty I got last week.
This was a colaberation bow. I had a set of limbs that I had built, I think it was the second pair I ever built I made them about a year ago and didnt have a riser for them as they were a extra set and wanted to make a riser for them. But I at this point I dont have the tools anymore to do it so a couple months ago I sent it to a buddy of mine Doug Whitcher the bowyer for Turkey Creek longbows. He agreed to make the riser and I gave him the measurments and limb pad angles and told him to just make something so the woods matched the limbs....well he did that and more. The limbs were Boo cores with Bocote veneers and a wenge wedgeand black phenolic tips. He made the Riser out of Bocote with a Wenge saddle and a Osage stripe to seperate. He also put a phenolic and bocote overlay on the front of the riser.
When giving him the measurments I mistakenly gave him the wrong limb pad angle (Oops.) and the bow came out about 18 pounds heavier than they were on my risre but Doug fixed that up for me since I had used .050 glass he was able to take a good bit of weight off. Its still just a hair stiff but alot better at 55@26, the bow turned out 58" long and is a screamer!! It shoots a good 4 to 5 inches higher than my typical point of aim spot and is by far the QUIETEST bow I have Never heard! LOL
Thanks Doug it turned out Great! :clapper:
