Every bow comes for the manufacure with a recommended brace height, say from 8 to 8.5 inches. Where do they come up with that number? Is it a result of limb angle, or is it just where the bow preforms best? I usually set my bows up by going to the lowest brace recommended and increase brace height until the bow is quiet. Lately I have been setting it even higher, and it is even quieter and seems to shoot a little better. I guess my question is where do they come up the the numbers, and how and why do you set your brace height where you do. Thanks.

I dont know where they come up with the numbers either. I tune my bows the same way that you do though. On thing that I have found is that If i get my brace hieght to high i tend to loose speed fast and i seem to think that i loose preformance. I just try to find a happy medium the is not lound and then tune my arrows to that.
