I have a 56" GN Critter Gitter Jackknife that pulls 56# @ 26". It shoots well for me and is my favorite bow. As I hunt with it in the colder winter months, I'm finding it a little harder to pull, especially after sitting for awhile. I'm thinking of ordering one in the same configuration that comes in at around 47-48# at the same draw length. Does anyone have any experience with this type bow at the lower draw weight in terms of arrow performance and comparative ease of draw? I've shot other bows at the lighter weight but not anything by GN. Just wondering how much I'm giving up by going to a lower weight. Other than saving myself from possible rotator cuff surgery. :) Your input is appreciated.

Difficult to say. However, you might not need to drop that much weight. A bow 5# lighter will still be quick and it makes a big difference after sitting all day incold weather. Of course, all bows will feel harder to draw after one has been sitting a long time in the cold and the body itself is really cold. The adrenalin preceding a shot at game usually takes care of that. It's when you don't have a critter in front of you that the bow becomes particularly hard to draw. Good luck.
I have their Fireball with osage limbs. It is 50# @ 28" and it is about 46# at my draw. It shoots great. I had a heavier Critter Gitter before and I really like performance of the Fireball alot. Might be a way to drop weight and not give up as much in performance.
I had a 64" one piece Critter Getter that was 66#@27" and I pulled it 29" and I didn't have trouble pulling it in cold. That is because I weight trained to condition the ease of drawing heavier bows.
Is that 56 correct?????? that is short!
56" is correct. I've had longer bows from GN and others but they seem too long for me when hunting the ground. I have one of their Ghosts at the same length and draw weight. Much tougher to pull than the CG. Maybe that's why they quit making them. Very nice bow though and very fast.
I appreciate the input and suggestions so far. This will be the first season I've had this bow. Just kind of interested to see if anyone else drops bow weight in the winter. Maybe it's just time to man up for the rest of the season and hit the weights over the spring and summer.

My son's 58" CG Special Jackknife is about 49# at my 26" draw, and flings 500 gr arras with authority. Great bow. I generally shoot a Bushbow at 57#, but just bought a Super Ghost that's 10# lighter...haven't tuned her up yet, but expect to be impressed. She's a 60"er, though.
