This is a bow that I just finished that had a Major Design flaw of mine. The Bow first fractured underneath the shelf across the web of the Grip Diagionally. Then when I went to re-string Her is when the Riser broke all the way thru the sight window and also thru the top Parrallel Hickory lamination and split the "F" Glass on the back of the limb. I made it Center shot, only problem was that I had cut most of the Black Walnut Vertical Center Core of the Riser in half.
The opposite face of the Riser is a Osage Face plate that was also cut out for a Thumb rest, leaving the Center Web of the Riser, not strong to counter act the forces placed upon the Riser at FULL Draw.
So this is how I salavaged the Bow after re-gluing all the pieces back together again. I made a Osage Bridge which makes a thumb hole and that holds the two halves of the Bow together, I Epoxyed and bolted them together.
The Bow didn't lose any Draw weight at all She is still 46#@28" Draw. And I must say is one of the best shooting Bows that I have. It shoots exactely where you are looking.
Iam very pleased with the outcome. Hope you all enjoy the photos that follow...ONE SHOT...

Since the back face of the "F" Glass was fractured also I had to apply a Osage overlay to help strengthen the back, looks pretty next to the Charcoal Gray stained Hickory Parrallel Lamination....ONE SHOT... :D :D :D :D :D
WOW!-
Never saw that before, but very inovative and looks very cool to boot!!
I do not know much about laminations, strength, overlays, etc, but that looks like a great fix, that is both functional and asthsteticly pleasing!
Would have never thought of that, and would have thought all was lost!
Thanks for sharing!
Jake
SShhhhh don't tell anyone of a design flaw.
Tellem it's a thumb sling.... :D
very innovative
One Shot, Great idea. I have a bow that I've been wanting to salvage and this might be the trick. I've never done any lamination work so I wonder of just the side brace would be good enough. Just got to find some Osage to make the side brace. Do you think your idea can cure this one?
