Title: Bow wood performance
Post by: CNCrash on January 16, 2008, 12:27:00 PM
What is the difference between Actionboo, Bamboo, and Actionwood?  I have read that these are the best woods for limbs and was curious how different they perform.  Any help is much appreciated!

To my knowledge, actionboo is a lamination ground from laminated bamboo. Bamboo would be just that; solid bamboo. Actionwood is what they call hard maple laminations. As to performance, I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't see much difference; maybe a coouple fps here or there. The bamboo will draw nice and smooth though. The other difference is cost.

Agree with Tom on the minimal performance difference.  In my experience, bow design has more to do with the performance.

One very overlloked wood IMO is Red Elm ...I have always liked it. mark#78
