Do you guys have a particular way of carrying your binos considering the bowstring. I like the crookedhorn system for general use, but wonder if it's in your way while trad hunting?
Lin
I've never had a problem with crooked horn system while trad hunting.
Since you mentioned it I'll probably hit it all the time now. :)
if you don't like Crooked Horn, I used to put a length of monofilament coated wire fishing leader through them, and hung them at my left side, since I am right handed.
A lot more inconvenient and more movement involved to use them and get them out of the way if I needed to shoot right after.
Try the CH system, and adjust them up high and tight...Ive never had string contact isues either, like 2knives.
when "serious" hunting, I wear a DayOne parka. It has a strap that holds the binos close to your chest. Rest of the time, I just put them in a pocket.
I put a length of green bow haul rope through them, long enough that they sit about on the belt line above my right hip. (I shoot right handed) Never in the way, and I can rotate them up with one hand when I need them.......

I also use the Crooked Horn straps and have never had an issue. I do plenty of stump shooting on my way back and forth to stands I don't remember ever hitting the binos with my string.
I use the cabela version of the CH straps for the first time this last year. The problem I had was that if I had a pack on and tried to bring my binos up one handed the straps pulled one side of the binos down (meaning not adjusted to my eye width).
I like the system but that was a problem specially when still slippin. I might be doin something wrong though?
Suggestions?
J
I used to use the bino buddy type system, it worked OK, but I have since just done almost exactly like Huntrdfk and I tied on some parachute cord, long enough to let the small bino's hang by or just above my right hip. I like it much better. it is not perfect, but I like it best so far.

Go to our website www.brothersofthebow.com (http://www.brothersofthebow.com) and click on the new product "Monostrap". I've used one exclusively for probably fifteen years and love it. I've had enough positive feedback from friends that I'm having it produced. It's not available yet but will be soon. A great deal for under $10. BW
I Don't understand why they (binocs ) do not come with a belt CLIP !!!???
Yeah.. Sergio.. that was my thinking. I figured maybe all the major binocular manufacturers could order hundreds of thousands from me to include with their binoculars and I could maybe get to hunt a little more often. bw
Nice add photo Barry. You taking lessons from 3 Rivers? Oh wait, forgot to look at the bino strap while I was at your site.
Wow ! Nice bino strap Barry...

what bino strap was there one there????

I make my own binocular strap that i have been using for at least 6 six years. They weigh approximately 1 ounce and cost $3.00 to make.

I saw Fred Eichler carry his over his head and right arm under his armpit. Carries real nice and swings out just as easily doing it that way
I do the same as Huntrdfk and have done it that way for years, but to be honest I believe that Gene Wensel was the first person I seen carrying them like that many, many, many years ago :) .
But I will admit that Barry's way sure LOOKS better! So Barry, do you use a "buddy stand" with that system or do you just strap her to the tree beside you?
I use the Pro Bino Manager. It's comfortable, keeps your binos secure, and best of all, it has a one sided pouch which protects and holds the binos against your chest. I also have a couple of the harnesses, but the bino manager is my favorite.
Barry, I don't know about your strap, but the young lady wearing the camo has got to be among the top ten in the world.
Great input fellers. I guess I do some stump shootin with my binos on. I like the idea of low and under the arm.
Mr Wenzel, I would get one of yours, but I wear overalls most of the time while huntin. Nice and comfy. I'll sure recommend it though.
I just bought a new pair of Leupold 6 X 30's just for trad huntin and want to get ready.

Barry,
I'd like to see how the front of the strap works.
I woouldn't mind looking at the front of the add either...
Geez Barry, You sure didn't look that good in bear camp. That mono strap looks good too! Doc
I carry binoculars almost everyday of the year; as I can expect to see elk;deer; and bighorns on any given day as well as antelope; moose and bears.
I am not sure how the mono strap will work with a safety harness?
What I like best is a strap that goes on my neck ( too small a strap can push into your neck and cause ..pain and probably bain dmage)
However; I really like the binoculars being able to be tucked under my right arm; under my jacket. That way they are out of the way of shooting; and out of the weather; and free from pine needles and snow.
Now if a Wensel had a strap that had a pad on it for the neck and was long enough to allow the binoculars to go under the shoulders - that would be cool.
That girl is soo pretty ! Bet she will make someone some cute grandkids :) yes... I am that old.
:archer:
I just tuck mine inside my shirt. I have the small swarovski 10x25. I also have a pair that are 8x42.That pair would be hard to tuck in the shirt.
I'm thinking about selling the small ones, because the big ones gather more light.
I'll have to experiment with carrying the big ones, because I usually keep them at the house to spy on the neighbors with. :campfire:
What size binos do you all carry? How about you Uncle Barry? :D :campfire:
BW, I can't look at pretty gals like that too long..makes me cry! BTW,Was there a binoc system shown there? :)
So...bought a used set of Diafun (?) Zeiss off this site and love them. thing is these silly binocs have the strap embedded into the rubberised coating and there is nothing to attach anything else to.
Gotta be more of those binoc users out there. Tell me what creative ways you've found to attach any other strapping or whatever! I like some or many of the ideas here but can't figure out how to attach anything with this goofy set up!
Thanks.

Doc Nock, tie wraps work very well. Or a split ring.
I wear my binocs the same as Huntrdfk and Flatstick do. I got the idea from Alan Altizer in one of his early videos.
