Title: PSE Radial X Weave STL Hunter Shafts - HELP!!!
Post by: ks_stickbow on January 13, 2008, 01:10:00 PM
I made a post a while back that my Girlfriend got me some of these for christmas. got my hands on them today, and they are super light. Full length they are 381 grain. I purchased some 100 grain brass inserts, except they are a smidge to big and wont fit into the shafts. So not I know I cannot get regular 5/16 weight tubes either. Anyone have any idea how get these to about 500gr.

I am wanting to shoot these out of my black widow SA III at 43 lbs at 26"...right now I am shooting some beman ics classics 400 at 9.1 gr with 125 head making a total arrow weight of 411 gr. I was hoping to be some where in the 500 grain with the new arrows....

Any ideas?

Weedwaker line!!  I have some old ArrowDynamic shafts that I made up for my brother in law that I used weedwaker line to up the weight of them.  Use multiple strands until you get the weight that you are looking for. dino

When I get those brass inserts that are alittle tight I just sand them down some to fit.I put a field point in my drill and thread on the insert and sand them as they spin to fit the arrow. Those brass inserts are made for your standard size carbon with a .246 inside diameter like GT,Blackhawk vapor and Beman ICS.They sometimes fit a little tight in CX they have a .244 ID.They are in between the standard carbons and axis/mfx.I don't think the weight tubes will fit either, the axis weight tubes will fit inside but will rattle. Some guys have used large diameter weed eater line the increase weight.I don't think any of the standard ways of increasing weight like inserts and tubes will help you without modifing them. Can you use heavier points to get the weight up and still fly good.

Try using aquarium tubing.  It normally runs about 5 gpi.

problem is I have so darn many broadheads all in 125 grain, I would hate to have to ditch them since I have so many.

I am sanding them today, and will weigh them in and see how much damage I did.

Do you guys glue in the weedwacker string or just insert them and let them be?

I seem to remember once using aquarium tubing and it would push my nocks out during shooting.

Jeff,
I cut the line to the exact length from the nock to the insert so it is snug when the nock is pressed in.  Insert as many stands as needed to get the weight you are looking for and that is it.  Not that it can't happen, but I have never had a nock shoot out from the line as with weight tubes. dino

I tried the line, but man was it loud. I might try wrapping it with tape to take up some empty space, and see. I got the arrows right now at 468 grains...Fly's like a dart bare shafting.

the nocks shooting out were with the aquarium tubing.
