What glue do you use for limb tips?
I use smooth on but 3 rivers sells one called Kwick It that good too.
I have used the Kwick glue from 3Rivers,you can get it in thin or thick.I used the thick for overlays.I put overlays on two different bows and haven't had any problems.
Can you use super glue?
Yes super glue works super,I like the thick formula from big hardware stores....bowdoc
Glued my tip lams on with "Araldite" 24 hour set epoxy, and used brooder lamps to heat the area.
I ended up with nice, fine glue lines, and the epoxy should never let go.
Never have tried cyanoacrylate glues for "structural" work, but a lot of fellows do vouch for their effectiveness.
Whatever is good enough for the bowdoc is good enough for me!
One of the better is Loc Tite gel formula. It can be bought at huge hardware stores for 2.99 and will glue around 8 tip overlays per tube. The only reason,I switched to super bonders rather then the epoxy base, like smooth-on.Work time, epoxys are 24 hrs and just about always need heat to cure correctly. On the other hand, the super bonders are dry in 5 minutes or less and you are cutting string nocs.bowdoc
super glue work well on limb tip.
Does super glue work just as good for fast flight strings too?
I was also wondering about this. I was looking at removing the actionwood overlay and replacing it with antler. Waht would be the best glue for this process?
Loctite superglue gel in the blue bottle. They now have a new formula in a green bottle with a longer working time. I can't remember if it's a gel or not.
