Title: string building questions
Post by: bmfer on January 12, 2008, 09:44:00 AM
I have been considering making my own bowstrings. The problem being is that I don't know anything about it. I've been told that my Martin Savannah is fast flight compatable, that being said I'd like to know if I should go with fast flight plus or TS-1. Also what are the shooting characteristics of each? I was told that I could use a 12 strand string on my 45# bow, is that correct?

Depends on who you ask.  I like Dynaflight '97 myself, with 8125 being my second choice.  Characteristics are similar with any of the FF type materials, with some being quieter on some bows, some having more initial stretch/creep, etc.

12 strands in any of them will be strong enough, but you may have to do a little extra work to get a proper nock fit with the smaller diameter materials.

Buy Chad's video, "Doing The Twist". It has everything you need to know about string making plus you get to watch Chad sweat in the hot southern summertime sun.     Pat
