Title: Dalton Caribou
Post by: Coldfingers on January 12, 2008, 07:33:00 AM
I dunno where they been. Seems like the last nine months I would only see a handfull. Durring August the hunters outnumbered them.

The last few weeks I have been seeing them strung out from Atigun camp to the top of the Ice Cut.

You local fella's could manage a cool hunt if you pick a window where the weather is tolerable.

PLEASE take the time to put a CB in the truck. Heck, even a little handheald will make your life (and mine) a mite safer up there.

Watch out for the bright blue Kenworth with the larda$$ tanker in tow, I may be watchin for bou myownself

Dang miserable up there. Took over 54 hours to make a round trip. Minus thirty's on the warm side and as low as minus 56 in the river bottoms. Hard driving with the tractor so stiff and fretting keeping it going. A few of em died up there the last few days and are still sitting there like frozen lumps. Couldn't even get the tractor dragged out from under the load due to frozen fifth wheel jaws.

Still lots of critters moving.

I got a wolverine this am. Anyone know how much KE you get with a Kenworth? Killed em dead. Hide is in great shape considering I hit him nine times (every tire on the ditch side)

Supposed to warm up sometime this week.

They are tough to be out in -56 looking for something to eat. I bet he was still biting and clawing through the 6th or 7th wheel though, 8th or 9th one probably did him in.  :)
