After working midnight and only a sleep for 1 hour the phone rings. My hunting partner longbowben says the magic words" I got a big one down". So i'm off to help do some tracking. Hopefully a good story will follow. Later...

Here it is all. Longbowben asked me to post this. This buck was rubbing a tree right at daybreak. If not for that then it would have walked through in the dark. At about 0700 he walked into the opening when Ben's jaw hit the ground. It was the buck we had on film and we were looking for. He walked to the open hole with another good buck in tow. He stopped quartering away but was a little too far through the opening. Ben decided to let him walk instead of trying a tricky shot when the buck drifted back into the spot. Instincts took over and before Ben realized what happened his MOAB was drawn and the arrow was gone. The deer immediately bolted.
We arrived at the site to find blood everywhere. Awesome blood trail from those 160 grain snuffers. We followed it about 80 yards when clots started to form. Then the blood was gone. Uh oh, maybe liver. We looked around but no more blood. So the search continued. I decided to check over the hill about another 80 yards by one of my other stands. I look over and see a big body sitting looking at me at 40 yards. It was the buck. Well Ben got to me and tried to get to the deer but he got up and ran. Now we were a little concerned. We gave him another 1 1/2 hours and slowly followed down an old logging road. About 75 yards away Ben looked into the thick brush and there he was. A final arrow behind the shoulder finished him off. It in fact was a liver hit and nicked one lung.
This is an awesome buck that we estimate to be in the mid to high 160's. He's a main 12 point with 6 more stickers. Well, looks like it is my turn now. Congrats Ben on an awesome buck and thanks for making me part of the adventure.
