I would be shocked if this ever came to a floor vote. That would eliminate more than half of currently available hunting land in the state. And at a time when the MDWFP, wildlife biologists, and insurance industry are practically begging us to kill more deer.
The pro-hunting lobby in MS is incredibly strong. Various anti-hunting proposals have cropped up over the years and have almost never gotten out of committee. I'd be willing to guess that a healthy majority of the state's legislators are hunters.... or their brothers and uncles are.
I'll check into it, though, and see what I can find out. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks Terry. I don't want to change the subject but there is another "little" problem here in MS. I found out the other day that you cannot bowhunt small-game on Wildlife Management Areas. The reason that the headquarters gave me was,"We don't want the bowhunters shooting deer after season". Well the laws state that you can use a .22 or shotgun so I asked the guy,"Well couldn't someone kill a deer with a .22 or shotgun" ?? He paused for about 5 seconds and then said "Well, yeah I guess". :knothead: That is just sooooo crazy. If any of you Mississippi guys want to give them a call here is the # 601-432-2199.
