Title: Good bye old friend - the retirement of my favorite bow
Post by: ks_stickbow on January 07, 2008, 05:46:00 PM
This bow was once a throw away stave...a stave no one wanted to work. It was my first stave. Not knowing any better I decided to try it...what the heck what's the worst that could happen...Well...it made a bow, and a fine bow at that. It was my first successful selfbow, not counting boarbows, and to boot I won my first ever 3D shoot with it. When ever I had a chance to show off my bows this is the first one I would show....most would tell me how ugly it was and ask why it's not straight...I'd laugh, give her pat on the back and continue on to the more straight bows...

Here she is after first stringing before steaming.

Here she is getting her tiller evened out...She was one stubborn piece of hedge

after a while she sported a snazzy reptile handle wrap

Her last day before retirement. I was going to shoot her for week 2 of the online tourny, and strung her up drew full draw and I hear POP POP POP....shot the arrow and unstrung her.

Hang it up for sure.  Too many memories to take a chance and have it on the fire pile.

What a fine looking bow that was. Sounds like it's time to make Naughty #2

Some call her knotty and crooked, I call her beautiful with style.  Hang her up and show her off.
