Title: ANYONE USE HEXSHAFTS?
Post by: Robert Honaker on January 07, 2008, 01:47:00 PM
Thinking about tryin'em. Does anyone how heavy they are? I would be shooting a 65lb, 31in shaft with a 125gr BH.  :)

I have a small sample.  They are on the heavy side which I like but a nightmare for me to straighten which I don't like.  They didn't crest very well for me either cuz of the tiny grooves between laminations.  Maybe they needed to be sanded more first.

Some guys swear by them but after the doz. I had I have since moved on.

call on aromaker -if you listen to what he tells you to do, you'll get a heavy hunting shaft
I didn't mean to but ignored his heating advice-bad.  Went back and heated the shafts and got much better results.

Try this site. (www.whisperingwindarrows.com)    You can e-mail or call.  Heavy and excellent arrows ... very straight, great quaility!

Best of luck!

Bob.

I shoot them with my long bow and like them very much.  I straightened them (very little) by the compression method and it worked very well.  I crown dipped them and had no problem with cresting.  The only "abnormality" with my arrows is I forgot to cut them to length.  I just tapered the ends and put them together.  They're just fine!  Let me echo what's alreay been said.  Follow Bob's advice.  I can't think of anyone who knows more about them (or who should know more about them).
