My buddy stopped by Saturday and said that they were cleaning out their house, getting ready to move and he came across some old hunting stuff and wanted to know if I wanted it.
He hands me a Martin X200 that is like new (said it is about 10-12 years old), a dozen aluminum arrows, a nice hip quiver and a copy of the bowhunters bible. Probably won't use the arrows, but I can't wait to shoot the Martin. He wouldn't take any money for it, so I'll have to come up with something to return the favor.
Anyone have any comments or opinions on the Martin? It's a 50#.
Bucket,
I've got a Martin X-200 myself. It was my first trad bow. Of course, I'm very new to the trad game, having only been shooting trad for a couple of years now. Mine is 55# @ 28" drawing 57# at my draw of 29". I haven't been lucky enough to make my first trad kill yet but, I really like the bow. I'm shooting 70-75# POC arrows with Woodsman heads with total arrow weight at 565gr. I've got 1 set of "beaver balls" on it and a sealskin rest and I shoot 3 under. The only thing I did to the bow is add snakeskin backing (done myself with instructions from this site...thanks guys!). I just didn't like the black glass backing. Seems like it stood out too much in the woods. Here's a pic of mine. I think you'll like it until decide to upgrade. I've just gotten a Kohanna longbow and am in the process of getting it tuned in.
Sorry for the long-winded reply. LOL :)
Here's a couple pics of mine.

Very nice friend. The X-200 is a good bow. Do a search to see what others have said about it.
Keep the aluminums. They make great stumping and small game arrows.
Todd:
Man that X-200 looks great with snake skins on it. Great job with that one. The X-200 is a pretty good bow for the money.
For what it is the X-200 is a great bow. From my experience, it draws smooth with little shock. I'm not to fond of the radius of the shelf but a little tweaking got me what I wanted. I agree the black glass could use a makeover but that's a personal choice.
I do not know much about the Martins, but I had to tell Todd what a nice job he did on those skins!!!!!!
Thanks guys for the comments! I know I couldn't have done it if it weren't for the extremely talented and knowledgeable individuals on this site. I've done a couple other bows since that one, for friends. I really love skin backed bows...they're just beautiful!
Sorry Ron...didn't mean to hijack the thread!
Don't be sorry, I agree with everyone else...the skins look great.
This time of year my 2 girls turn from hunting to softball, so my time to shoot gets limited. It may be a while before I get to shoot it much, although I WILL make time to shoot it a little over the weekend.
WOW!
