"Doin' the twist" or 3R's "Crafting traditional flemish strings"
I'm ordering one or both of them from 3R today. Anybody got any recommendations?
I've never seen the 3 River's DVD but Chad's Doin' the Twist is top notch and will teach you what you need to know.

Doin the twist has a lot more info in it. The 3 rivers one will make a basic string, but does not cover a lot of things you need to know to make a good string.
doin the twist for sure. it is superior.
Twist it is, thanks everyone.
Good lad!
I learned by the book, 'Laying In' by MArtin Maynard. I think it makes you understand completely how to make the best quality strings. One of the things he talks about is counter-twisting the hanks of string before starting the second loop. This is the only way to really get a 'fused' string where all the strands lay in one bundle. Have you ever seen a flemish that looks like two cords wrapped around each other? That's not the correct way to do it, Maynard shows you how. PLus, I think the jig that he suggests and his methods allow you to create a very consistent string, moreso than by just doing it in your hands. _BAxter
