After almost 5 years of off and on writing and editing (when I have time); my book is finished!
It is titled:
Fins, Skins and Feathers
( a collection of longbow hunting and fly- fishing essays from across Ontario)
It is 22 chapters and was a labour of love.
Now for the work of trying to sell it... ;) :)
I have to thank Kelly aka "The Forest Witch" for continually pushing me to believe in my writing and finish it, she always believed... :)
wish me luck folks, hopefully in less than a year it will be out.

Longbows AND bamboo flyrods?? Now I gotta have one. That's a great accomplishment!
The two best subjects on earth! I will certainly be getting a copy.
Same here. Love to buy a copy. Keep us posted.
well, I had a chat with out neighbour who self-published a book a few years back.
He told me that self-publishing is the way to go when trying to get a niche-book on the market.
You have total control of every sale and you can make a profit.
If you go through a big publisher he said you get about a buck a book...not my cup of tea.
If you break even he told me ; then you are doing well. :(
So, it looks like I'll be going through the same place he got his book out of and it will be on the market by summer!
:) :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Congrats!!!!
:wavey:
Number two is for me ;)

Me too.........I want one! If it is ready in time, I'd bet you could move quite a few at Cloverdale and Compton. I should be at both and if you decide to set up/sell there, let me know and I'll help you out if I can. Mike
Very cool. I'd like a copy too when it's ready!
Sounds like there's quite a few flyfishing fanatics in the traditional hunting community.IMO they do go hand in hand, especially bamboo flyrods.
Please be sure and let us know when it's available.

Big Dog, Do you have a proofreader? I've done some writing and find myself locating proof errors in magazines, catalogs, and such quite often. Would be glad to offer an extra set of eyes if you would like.
I also will be looking for your work to be published.
So let me know when to pick up my signed copy!!! Good to hear ya got it finished.

Big Dog; I'd watch that Owlbait character ever since he got Full time at the school he's gotten a little weird. Always correcting my spelling & grammer & stuff, thats hard to do just talking, but thats why he's a little weird!!
Just Kidding He's a Great Guy!!
Put me down for a copy of your new book as well please.
I just finished my first book- reading isn't as hard as I thought it would be!!Kidding aside, can't wait till it comes out.

Well Congrats on finally finishing...
I am sure it will be a good read.... It was not JUST Kelly who told you to write....
Remember your Wife told you to Follow your dreams, long before she was in the pic.
Well once again congrats adn best wishes on the publishing and sale of your book.
Thanks for the well wishes Jo. :)
It was a lot of work getting it going and finally done, I'm pretty excited about it.
BD :)
Big Dog, sounds like you might have an audience here. You forgot only fine double shotguns with grouse and woodcock shooting to fill out the top of the pyramid. You should become a sponsor if you do sales through the site. Good luck with the project.
Kelly and I were already talking about that... after getting it published I would love to become an sponsor and do the bulk of sales here.
Have to get it published 1st though.
right now it is a neatly stacked, double-spaced, HUGE mauscript.
I was thinking about the fine doubles ala Bodio; but I don't own one...yet ;) :)
thanks.
