Title: Bear K-Mag
Post by: allanburden on January 04, 2008, 02:59:00 AM
I have always wanted a bear and after reading the article in TBM on short bows I am wanting one.  How does this bow shoot with a 29 inch draw?  Thanks for the help.

It'll have a little stack.  I pull 30" & could shoot mine comfortably. I was shooting two fingers under at the time so I didn't notice finger pinch but I've heard some say they have.

Overall they're good little bows.  I don't think you'd be disappointed.

My Dad has a Bear Black Bear Panther 56" that he bought from Kmart in the early 70's. It has a twisted top limb and various bumps and bruises.
I draw about 29.
All of those bears stack a little and have some jump to them. They are a good little blind bow that you can beat on and not worry about too much. They always seem to shoot where you aim them.

Hi Allan,
Like already mentioned they will stack a little but at 29 inches you will be fine. If your set on a Bear Kodiak Mag I HIGHLY recomend buying one of the newer versions of the K-mag. Although I do own an old Grayling K-mag the newer bows preform so much better.

However if it is just a short bow you are looking for I would strongly suggest checking out the Shrew Classic Hunter, it is the best short bow on the market, in my opinion.

I used a 55# Bear Kodiak Magnum 52" for a couple of years drawing 29" and had no problem at all.  If I could find one in the 70# range I'd love to have another one.

Are you left handed? I've got a really nice one 52" 70x# at 28. They do stack the last inch or so,but it shoots great.I could sell it,because I want to buy a new 52" bow.   :campfire:

I have had a 55# 1967 K-Mag for years and have no problems shooting it at all

I draw 28" and I shoot 3-under with my nock point set 5/8" above the shelf. I have not had any problem with stacking or finger pinch and the old K-Mag is a very comfortable shooter.

I LIKE IT!!!!!   :archer:

I have an old Kodiak Magnum, 50#. I really can't shoot it any more. My draw is 30.5 and it stacks like crazy.
Bought a 62" 45# Martin Hatfield and love it. What a difference, like night and day.
