My wife told me a package arrived for me UPS tonight when I was out running an errand for her. This was what was in it.

What it was wrapped in gave me flashbacks to the spring/early summer. Hopefully no nightmares :biglaugh:
Won't be able to shoot it until Friday at the earliest but will let you all know what it feels like shooting then. I can tell you I really like the way it feels so far just in the hand.
:scared: That's where my new riser went!
Lovely! A&H have just upped there game tenfold.
The Lassie has some sweet curves to her Rob. :D
Looking good Dave!! Looks like a shooter to me!!
I knew that's what it was when I saw the title....I like it's looks.
David
Sweeeeeeet!!
COme on up David and you can shoot her. Tippit is coming up after he gets back from Solena
Very nice looking riser!!! Would someone mind telling the rest of the story!!!
Bill
It is one of the first four A&H ACS-CX 16" risers. It came to me wrapped in a surgical sponge(the blue thing under it). Let's just say I got to know them all to well last year.
ohhhhhhhhh so nice dave so ya wont be needing your sheepeater now :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
When has the having ever had anything to do with the needing Jeff?
Just wondering what the black portion of the riser is made of? Awesome looking riser, by the way.
I am curious about the black as well. Phenolic? Another possibility that I just brainstormed would be aluminum.... that might be cool. I don't care for aluminum risers (to me, ugly and cold, impersonal and all too often square-ish, but that's me).... but what about PART aluminum? You could CNC some nice curves like that and mate it up with some good wood to give it warmth, round it off...... might be nice. If nobody has done it before, I call dibs on the testing!
Mike
I believe it is phenolic.
Got limbs?
Yes I do Killie, thank you for asking. They are from my original 14" riser which I sold to get this one. The results will be a 66" bow that is 50@28
Beautiful riser. Probably shoots ok too. :)
How's the grip Dave?
Nice one David! Have fun!
hnh
That's a beauty of a riser!
I really like the grip Kawika. It does get the arrow a little higher than the standard riser
Can we see it with the limbs on it? Got to see the WHOLE bow!
The black stuff is solid fiberglass John just informed me. Much stronger than phenolic.
I'll put pics up with the limbs tomorrow snag. I have a play date today with a 4 and 5 year old boy(my son has his buddy here today)and of course it is -10 here today so it will have to stay inside.
I love the way ACS is keeping their risers so sleek looking through the use of the FG stiffeners.
Why do we have to wait till Friday; what's so important that you can't shoot it now? I can't wait till Friday! Waaa!
Sure come on over. It is -10 and I have my 4 year old and his newly 5 year old buddy here. What do you think the moms will say to me if I take them outdoors? As much as I like my bows, I ain't crazy! LOL
I am on the list for a acs cx and was wandering if this riser is an option or is this the way all of the new risers are going to be? By the way that thing looks fantastic.
Teach the little ones how to shoot from the house through the window.Ill be making a trip your way this April hopefully we could fling some arras.
You'll need to speak with Larry or John as to how available they are going to be. This one is one of the first four made. Larry told me they are discussing making it a little beefier. Until I shoot it I can't give a full opinion on that, but from first feel I'd say leave it just like this.
very nice looking riser dave. she sure has some curves to her. can you remind me why i haven't made the drive down to shoot any of your bows? :knothead:
Don't know Joe. Been offering for about 100 bows now.
Heck I've had guys come from as far away as Ohio to shoot them and you live less than 2 hours away! LOL
When you come drive the truck and load the bed with a couple dozen of your's. hehe
"Been offering for about 100 bows now." LOL
ok, ok this spring. :)
I'll get better ones tomorrow.

Nice David
Wow that thing is sweet :0)
I wonder what the new shorter limbs would be like on the new longer riser?
Can't see a pic of it...?
Me neither. ?
I must be blind----or more stupid than usual----because I can`t see the picture---that you people are talking about-----help--please.
Nice looking combo David. So that's 2 inches longer than a regular riser?
Yes it is but the limbs only lose 1/2# according to Larry.
Dave that is a beautiful three piece there. Man oh man good luck and good hunting with it! HMMMM you say 50#s at 28"s? Now that would be around 47#s at 27"s wouldn't it?
Dang it the pic dont show up on my puter. Just a red X
Shows up fine on mine. The regular Photo Bucket way I do all of them. You guys don't have images blocked do you?
Actually this one would be 48# at your draw Tom.
NO PICTURE...NO X either! I just love technology.....lol Some of you guys get a pic and others don't...? Just says "I'll get better ones tomorrow" and then a blank space below.
no pic on my puter either.
Can you guys still see the pic on the first page? Have you tried refreshing you browser in case the server is back up or whatever the issue is.
Now I can't see the pic on the first page!! I could see it yesterday?? all I see is - where the pic should be.
David
unfortunately I've been able to see it all this time,,, that sure is a purty riser Bro.
Can you see the strung bow Kawika?
Now its working again...Sweet lookin outfit you got there!!
David
dammit Dave stop teasing,LOL,,,, I can see that one too :bigsmyl:
Very Nice!
That is the best lookin' ACS riser I have seen.
Sweet bow.
Dave I think everyone can see it,,, they're just jealous and wanna mess with your head,LOL! Well I'm jealous anyways.
Now I can see it...oh my! It is a thing of beauty. That grip is really set back. What is the brace height? Kind of reminds me...dare I say it?...like some wheel bow risers. How forgiving is it? Oh yeah, you've got munchkins running around. Probably haven't shot it much yet.
now I can see them. Great looking bow Dave. Congrats.
I can see the pics today. Cant wait till mine gets here.
Going out to shoot it now will post pics and thoughts a little later. :bigsmyl:
Whoopppeee!!!!!!! one of these days, I'll try one of these. I've heard so much about then on this website!
Oh bugger.
I'm gonna have to spend some money now.
Congratulations David, this package couldn't have fallen into the hands of a cooler guy :archer:
You guys want pictures or impressions first?
That is just sick Dave. :clapper: :clapper:
beauty of a bow Dave,,,, but what's that white stuff on the ground
Okay I started off with some 30" AD Trad Heavies with 100 brass inserts and 250 up front, they shot way weak. I took them all the way down to 175s and were still shooting weak. I then switched to 30" Grizzly Alaskans with 75 brass and 250s, better but still weak, put 175s on and the bow liked them much better. The bow really like 2117s with 175 up front but was a bit louder with those.
I started with a 7.25 brace height but 7.5 was much quieter and took some buzz out of the bow. Since my hand injury this spring, I feel everything in my left hand, even the aluminum riser I had had some buzz I could feel now. While not really hand shock, it is a vibration I can feel (I only have one bow I own that has what I would call absolutely none now). The string I put on is not one of the A&H ones (it didn't make it in the box and is on the way). I did have a 66" Rod Jenkins though that was in very good shape so that's what I used. The new string will get whiskers as for the wool really didn't impress me much on this string.
As for the grip, it is a very narrow throat which I like. I would lose the bottom two finger grooves though. I have big hands and with gloves on they just didn't feel quite right. Bare handed wasn't bad but I still could do without them I think. The top one is perfect and makes sure the hand is where it belongs. I shot with no armguard and the bow didn't bite my jacket at all and the arrow is a little higher off the hand with this riser than the 14" and I had no feather hand contact at all.
Overall I really like this riser and if I was a braver man would rasp the bottom two bumps off and I believe this would be the best of the ACS risers.
Beautiful bow Dave! I couldn't see the pic last night but I can see both of them now.
Well Larry at A&H over-nighted me a string. Guess I'll have to force myself to go shoot some more. hehe
Hey Dave, send the bow to me and I'll rasp the bottom two bumps off for you...... :bigsmyl:
David
aawww poor Dave,,, gotta go shoot a nice looking bow more,LOL! what's the actual weight loss for the limbs on the longer riser,,, try scaling it yet?
Hey David, Larry just called me and said they'd be happy to machine it down to exactly what I want. How's that for service?
No scale Kawika but John has scaled a bunch of limbs on the 16" and the most they lost was a pound. The limbs are set a little further forward on this riser so you gain a little draw length would be my guess.
Any impressions on the speed of the bow? Those guys at A&H really are good to work with!
The bow actually seems faster now Snag. Kind of weird.
It sure looks like an arrow launchin' bow! The grip looks like it would be very stable in the hand.
I'm going to have the bottom two bumps taken off. They just don't fit my hand quite right, especially when I have a glove on. The top one is the cat's meow. Really keeps the grip consistent.
I hope that becomes an option for the grip.
Larry said it can be ordered either way in the future. He liked the idea. Of course these are still being hammered out and they have a couple of other things in the works so this may not be the final product.
Spent some more time with it. Put the new string on and some whiskers. Set the brace at 7 1/8" and she is quiet now and shooting nice. Once I get the grip resolved this one looks to be a keeper.
One last time for the night crew.
David, do you grip the bow, fo rme I do not touch th eback of the riser at all and I have sausage fingers. Is it finicky about your form? Shawn
Form hasn't been an issue with it. I don't grip tight but like my fingers wrapped around the back. I shoot with a relaxed bow hand.
