Has anyone shipped a bow to France? Questions on amount of shipping and how to.

Int'l surface mail was done away with in '07, probably because of the excessive time in shipping. There is only 1st class Int'l and Priority Int'l, both services are pretty fast considering the distance. Pack it well. If it is a 1 piece LB I use a piece of 6" thin-wall pvc with the plastic end caps. If a 1 pc recurve use the sturdiest box you can find and be sure to cushion the tips well with something the tips won't poke through. Mark it FRAGILE,the damage I've seen has been a result of other parcels being stacked on top of the bow.
You'll have to complete and sign a customs form available at any post office. You should insure it and be aware that if you file a damage or loss claim on a parcel sent over-seas the reimbursement slower than on domestic claims.

i shipped a td longbow a while back, seemed like it was about $40.00 and about 2 weeks to get there..
I just shipped a bow to France. I sent it via US Postal Service. I shipped it Priority Mail, insured it for $300 (actual value $700) and also sent it Return Receipt Requested. It was shipped on Dec. 3rd and arrived in France Dec. 8th. My friend did not receive the bow until Dec. 22nd. The postal service said that the Christmas holiday caused the delay. FYI - Rob

I shipped a 70" longbow to France.USPS has a max length of 60",so if it is a one piece and longer then 60" you have to use another shipper.I used UPS and it cost $122.15 to ship and he recieved it in 6 days.If it is under the 60" max length USPS Priority International is alot less expensive.
historically, the English have been taking bows to France for generations

I've used two of the world wide shippers,not sure I should mention there names ??? but I think thier initals are OK huh??? FX or UPS but I've shipped all over the world and have not had any problems with eather.As for cost..oh ya they can put a hurten on ya sometimes pending length.4 back to the netherlands last summer ran me 150.ish and some change.One was a 68" long bow.I only use them 2 shippers for out of the country,but so far some good....bd
