I've made a few taper jigs to use on my sander that work OK but I'd like to see some other ideas. I've also read that some guys are using a jig on their table saw. Got any pic's?
Thanks,
CJ
I've got a jig for my table saw. Sorry, can't post pics, I can't figure photobucket out.. Its basicly a piece of plywood with grooves cut into it representing the 2 angles, 5 and 11 degrees that rides up against the sanding disc I made out of hardboard. The plywood has a strip on the bottom of it that sits in the table saw dado.
Are you eyeballing the length of the taper or do have a stop setup on the jig?
I have a small strip of plywwod that pivots on a screw that is perpindicular to the sanding disc. The first arrow gets eyeballed to where I like it then I pivot the stop to it and tweak a second screw down on the far end of the strip that just grabs the plywood so the strip won't move.
My first attempt was a modified electric Weedeater. It worked but would scare hell out of you when sand paper came unglued at 100,000 rpms.

I later started using jigs with a belt/disc sander. Much safer and more precise....Van
