Hope is here with me for the 1st journey, and I hope to take her to the Paradise this month for my gathering up and last walk of the property. Hopefully I'll get a pig with her.
Faith is on her way to Canada with Tom Philips for the Bear Quest 2008.
Wish us luck.
Thanks again to Brent at Black Mountain for donating these two beautiful bows for this years effort.

Good Luck Guys...Can't wait to read the stories...
David
-
Best of Luck guys!
I just started my '09 St. Judes change jar...'cept I'm stuffing it with BILLS instead of change for Miss Hope!
The schedule says I have her for a Bear Hunt...I wish! We're hunting whitetails unless someone sticks a big ole mossy horn swamp buck to be nicknamed "Bear" up at Buck Jam...
-
Drew...Just a typo on my part....all fixed now. Now go put a hurting on a big boy with an arrow from Hope.
-
I would like to add my name to the list but when I try the address for Dick Easter i get an error message. Is this due to my computer or is the address wrong?
thanks,
Donnie
-
could someone explain this to a noob? what is this about?
-
C.D.
Each year for the past few a bowyer steps up and donates two special bows to the cause. One right and one left. Members sign up to use them for one week during the year and a journal is kept on each bow. Teh storys are told on this thread as the year goes by.
At years end the bows and all of the stuff that goes with them go into the St. Judes Auction and raise money for the kids.
Mike
-
Donnie...The address is correct but if your having problems just send me a pm with the proper info and we'll get you signed up.
-
Best of luck to all :0)

Faith just arrived in Wild Wonderful West Virginia this morning. with all the lefthand family and friends I have and ATAR just around the corner this beautiful bow is gonna get shot a LOT. I know Hope is not far behind (I'm RH ya know). these bows will be a treat for everyone to shoot at ATAR. I'll keep ya'll posted.
oh yeah' I'd like to give a BIG  to Tom Phillips for getting a nice bear with Faith. how about a picture Tom?
-
I need them for the bunny hunt which is the 3rd. weekend in Feb 09 . Let me know if I have to e-mail ya or something! Thanks all! Shawn
-
TOGETHER AGAIN!!! that's right. Hope and Faith are together again. Hope arrived in Wild Wonderful West Virginia this morning. I've had my eye on a nice groundhog for the past couple days so maybe with a little luck me and Hope can get some stew meat. It's gonna be a blast watching folks shoot these beautiful bows at ATAR 2008. Hopefully we'll have some good pictures of the girls while they're here for everyone to see.
-
I ordered a new camera this morning! :bigsmyl:

-
good for you Killdeer  have to give it a real good breaking in at ATAR.
-
well' all I can say is...what a weekend! these two little bows got looked at, handled, shot (over and over) and their pictures taken until they were plum tuckered out. a big thank you to Brent of Black Mountain (now in WV) for these fine bows and for taking the time to visit Hope and Faith at ATAR 2008. also' WOW is all anyone could say about those arm guards. what a work or art.
before this day is out these beautiful bows will be headed to their next adventure. I just hope Greg and Donnie have as much fun with them as we did at ATAR 2008.
again, thank you to everyone involved with not only Hope & Faith but everything behind the scenes with the St. Judes auctions.
-
Thanks to both of you Brent and Danny for the opportunity to shoot "Faith" at ATAR. She is my kind of bow. I'm a big fan of short lightweight bows. She was that, and pretty also. I shot it at the wing shoot and wish that I had tried the toughman with her.
As Danny said "I just hope Greg and Donnie have as much fun with them as we did at ATAR 2008."
-
Danny, thanks to you and pass the thanks along to the crew that put on the shoot. Wonderful time, wish I could have stayed longer. It was nice to meet some Tradgang friends. Killee, you are as pleasant as I could have ever imagined. I enjoyed playing with your dog, Spirit- The Sheepeater. Lee Viv, you aren't as tall as I thought you would be. John a Sipsy River, you were a pleasure to spend time with. Jim, thanks for letting me shoot your Banshee's. You got a great bow there bud. I was impressed with your design and workmanship. Not bad at all for a freshman. I expect great things from you.
Brent
-
Brent, you are a gentleman and your wife and daughter are as sweet as can be. I thoroughly enjoyed the bit of time that I spent with you. Though I tried my best, "stuff" that had to be taken care of at camp got in the way of seeing you again later that afternoon. Hope is a slick little thumper, and I envy those who will shoot with her in the hunting fields.
I agree about the Banshees, BTW!
Killdeer :wavey:

I received Faith on the 17th and shot several arrows before the rains started. I normally shoot right hand but grow up shooting left. The bow shot very nice with my 65# cedars. I mainly wanted to get a close look at the craftsmanship, very nice. If I could have gotten Hope I would have taken her hog hunting, didn't feel accurate enough with a left hander for hunting.
Thanks to Brent,
take care,
Donnie
-
Donnie just sent me a PM saying he had put Faith in the mail to me. Looking forward to getting her. I'll probably shoot either my AD heavies or Beman MFX and tune her up with those. Action at the ranch is getting heavy. Saturday I spotted and stalked three different groups of hogs including a huge grey boar. On my way to the boar I got in a standoff with a doe that had a shooter buck behind her. It was a great day out, but no meat was made. Hopefully I will have some great stories to tell with Faith in hand. Right now I have blacktails and hogs on the menu.
-
Somebody done kilt a bear with Faith....
-
Can't wait for the story and some pics...
 :D
-
Great! Mojo on Faith already
-
Received the bow on Thursday. Going to have tune some arrows to it but from what I've done so far it feels great so shoot.
-
Just got Hope today! Looks sweet, fast, quiet. The armguard is nice too. I have a bow shoot tommorrow so she arrived just in time. Thanks to all who are playing a part in this.
-
What are the weights? I'll have Faith a month from now and need to know what weight arrows I need to be looking for!
-
If I remember correctly, Faith is 52#@28" and Hope is 53#@28".
-
Thanks!
-
Where's the bear story?
-
Been hunting with faith but no getting yet. I have her, for hunting anyway, one more weekend before I send her off to Don. I'll be heading up to the ranch just as soon as I get these honey-do's done (painting the living room! :banghead: Three different colors :banghead: :banghead: )
Then I'll load up and go. Got pigs, deer, and rabbit on the menu...
A couple of weeks ago I had close encounters with pigs and deer with Faith in hand. Spot and stalk and still hunting. I spotted the piggies and went to ambush them at a point where they would have to come through a hole in the fence...darn neighbors fixed the hole!!! They got ahead of me, came through the gate at the corral, and that was all she wrote. I went to a high spot (top of the ranch is 2500 feet) and glassed for them but to no avail. There were plenty of places for them to go. I then went to a nice spot out at the far side of the ranch with a dry lake bed. I had seen a buck there while scouting earlier and I wanted to try him out. So I still hunted through the area and came across two does and two fawns. I stopped and glassed and waited and there he was again! (btw, no shooting does or fawns in this state or Faith would have had deer blood...) No stalk could happen though as the does were between him and I and there was no passing them to get to him.
The next weekend there were too many gun hunters on the ranch so I didn't go out with a bow...Uncle won't let me bowhunt when we have a crowd of gun hunters, say's it's not safe and not in the plan...But this weekend I'll have the place to myself. There's lots of rabbits running around and I'm hoping to get into the pigs again. If I'm really, really lucky then a buck will get in front of me. Stand by for a report on Monday!
-
GOOD Luck, Toby......
-
The arra's went flying!
No deer were seen this weekend but we literally ran into the hogs, big time! I wish you could "see" this area...we forgot the camera though.
I did an evening hunt with Faith. I dropped Sara off on her stand and went off to the other end of the ranch. This is typical Mendocino County hill country. If it aint up, it's down and the top of the ranch is at 2500 feet. Open, grassy hillsides on the southern aspects with wooded drainages and springs, and dark heavy timber on top and on the North aspects.
It started off for me with a dark comedy. I was scouting for targets of opportunity from the roads in my cousin's old jeep. I won't bore you all with these details but suffice to say that the jeep overheated, ran out of gas, and broke the accelerator arm off of the throttle arm. Fixed all that and continued on my regularly scheduled program. I ran into a sounder of hogs right on top of the mountain and tried to move into position to take one. They sensed my presence and tried to put distance between us. I caught two in range and picked a spot on one sow. Let fly and she wasn't in that spot I picked anymore. I decided to leave well enough alone for now and go check on the wife.
Next morning we head back to the top of the ranch. In my truck. Don't trust the ranch jeeps anymore. We stop a few hundred yards away from where I left the pigs and make a plan. Sara moves to one side of the dark timber to take a stand in case I move animals towards her. I head up the road on the edge of the timber to start a still hunt with the wind in my favor.
Sara tops the small rise to enter the timber and take her stand. She sees 30-40 pigs feeding just inside the timber. By this time I'm ready to start my still hunt a couple of hundred yards from her position. She lets fly and misses. Pigs move out. She calls me on the radio to let me know pigs are coming my way fast. This was just as I dropped the string on a jack rabbit. Darn radios...I hate them and usually leave mine off unless there's something to say. Missed the bunny. Took a quick figure on where Sara was versus where I'm at and triangulate an interception point to meet the piggies. I can already hear them...running, snorting, grunting, making all kinds of noise in the timber. I figure, great, they're already making noise so I don't have to be quiet until they are! So I run to intercept them. I do and get in range but there is no shot to be had. Too much "stuff" in the way of vitals that are moving. They head off the little ridgeback into a drainage and up the other side. I take the short cut around the top of the drainage and hit them right in the middle of the sounder just as they quiet down and go back to feeding. I'm looking at many, many targets in front of me...looking through heavy timber, lots of twigs, branches, trying to find a hole to shoot through at a broadside piggie. Finally, I find a sow, stopped, feeding, broadside with a shooting lane. Did I say lane? More like a hole. I'm already nocked with a Grizzly Stik Sitka, tipped with a 135 grain Magnus 2 sitting on top of a 100 grain insert. 20 yards to target. I can do this. Pick a spot, draw, double anchor, perfect T, and let fly. Then, I swear, some darn little tree branch just swats my arrow out of the air just before it hits the pig's heart! Darn trees! Pigs move out and there's nothing I can do since to chase them further gets me nothing but trespassing on the neighbor's piece!
Folks, this is why I hunt. I had a great morning of great pig action with a piece of St. Jude's future history in my hand! I had her for about three weeks now. Hunted with her two weekends and shot her some for target practice and arrow tuning. And now I pass her on to Don Wilson, whose acquaintance I made at the Solana Ranch hunt last year that I won on St. Jude's auction. Which is another reason to bid on hunts...you meet great people you wouldn't otherwise. I still remember the live thread on aiming between Don and Terry in the bunkhouse over beers while we were tuning kit for the next morning.
So, when this bow comes up for auction, bid often, bid high. She's a shooter and she will have stories to tell when the year's done!
Oh, and one last thing...Like Terry says on that video...If you don't live where there's hog hunting...MOVE!
-
Great story Toby. Looking forward to hunting with Faith in the spring.
Bill
-
Hey Don Wilson...you should be seeing Faith tomorrow if you haven't got her already. I sent her out Wednesday last week.
-
Anybody seen Hope around? I was supposed to get her today and haven't heard anything. Mike
-
PM Vance Mike. He's was supposed to have her the last two weeks.
-
sounds really cool,
great idea
-
Where are all the stories guys?
-
Hope never showed up for my turn. I was supposed to have it all last week and planned on taking it on the last week of our elk hunt. We really got into the elk too. That's how my luck goes.
-
mike,
If you want go ahead and keep hope thru the end of the month and mail her out to next person in line (Drew in Mich).
I am in line to have her the last 2weeks of Sept but I'll pass to let you have a little more bond time.
Good Luck & Happy Hunting!
-
That's a nice offer. Unfortunately the bow still hasn't made an appearance. I hope that Hope didn't get lost in the mail.
-
I alone stand GUILTY as Charged....No excuses, will replace the time with Hope that some have lost.
I found myself completely overrun, set Hope aside and because of MY IRRESPONSIBILITY and lack of consideration for fellow Bowmen, I have made some of you suffer. I am So very sorry for putting you folks out and causing Hope to get out of the timely circulation.
Believe me if I knew a way to make things right I Truly would, however I have yet to find a way to "Un-ring a Bell"
Not a good deal at all......Regretful some of you will have to pay for my lack of Team Spirit and pull up my slack, to get her back on track.
Again I apologize to any and all those whom I have let down...........I'll furnish the ROPE......vance
-
don't sweat the small stuff, Vance!!
It'll all work out in the end.
I am told that hope has landed in montana as we speak and I guess I will send it on to Drew.
Gook Luck to all,
-
I picked up Faith at the post office Saturday morning-she's tiny!
I'm still trying to find the arrow that works best with her, and when I do I'll hunt with her for a couple of days before sending her off,
hopefully with a bloody arrow in the case for some extra mojo!
-
hope drew blood, more details in the not to distant future.(as in monday)
-
It's been Monday for a long time.....let's have it.
-
sorry guys it's late here in montana (I go back to work in the morning) and to be honest with you I am plum wore out. Miss Hope can hunt and she kept us very busy the past for days. I will mail her off to the next in line tomorrow morning. With some pics and story to follow.
-
This is a sad day for me, I take Miss Hope to the post office to pass her on to Drew and my 4 day whitetail adventure here in Montana with some great hunting buddies comes to an end (I named this the "Big Sky Hope Fest"). Joining me on this hunt was a fellow Tradganger from Georgia Matt Schuster, a Montana buddy Pat and his 13yr old son Luke and last but not least my 12yr old son Tanner.
The bow performed great, it’s very similar to the bow I shoot so the transition was very simple and quick for me. The arrows I used were arrows I picked-up on the Tradgang classified from indianalongbowshooter for my son. My son shot Miss Hope some but he didn’t feel comfortable hunting with it without more practice.
In total Miss Hope made meat on 3 occasions all of which were whitetail does. I did m-mi-miss a mule deer doe but that was not the fault of Miss Hope, this miss was operator airier (the fletching on one of my arrows had torn and was flapping in the wind which was like shooting a very slow, out of control flu-flu). Needles to say the arrow fell 10yrds short on a 20yrd shot.
2 of the 3 whitetail does were taken by myself and 1 doe was taken at the hands Matt Schuster. Matt has plans of writing a story about this hunt so I don’t plan on getting to adventuresome with my story telling but I will add a few pictures soon.
Thanks again to everyone involved with this bow project,
Brian Roness
Ps I am leaving the top half of an arrow that made meat during the “Big Sky Hope Fest”
-
Brian, That's awesome bud...congrats!!
I had the absolute pleasure of hunting with Matt last year in TX....He's definitely one of the "good guys" :notworthy: Can't wait to read the article and see some pix.
Hope to come see you next year bud...
-
Well I have an update, the bow didn't go out in the mail yesterday as I had intended. I planned on dropping it off on my way from work (which means a hour drive from the middle of no-where).
On my way to town I found a pretty nice antelope buck taunting me to come out and play. Well needless to say I unrapped "Miss Hope" from her case tiptoed into the antelopes playground and caught him coming down a fence line(antelope do not like to cross a fence). Miss Hope jumped to attention and rose to the occation by sending a arrow into the side of pretty decent antelope buck.
I ran out of light and I felt the shot placement was a little less desirable than I would like so I choose to leave him for the night.
Now today I found him where I had left him and found that the arrow was indeed a little far back but I did manage to bring him home. (pix to follow)
I plan to get the bow in the mail first thing in the morning (10/02/08).
So the offical count for "Miss Hope" here in montana is 3 whitetail does and 1 antelope buck.
Thanks Again to everyone involved!!
-
Congrats Brian, can't wait to hear the stories and see pics!
Shoot me a pm, and let me know the details of how your sending Miss Hope, so I know what to expect!
A pack of fresh steaks would be great too..

Miss Hope arrived in MI on Saturday afternoon...man you could feel the MOJO, so i dialed her into my way of shooting...
We're off to overlook the corner of a corn field...lots of deer sign.
-
Give her some rein and let her run, Drew
I'm glad she made it safe and sound!
Good Luck & Happy hunting,
-
Daaang Brian!
Nice shooting. That is a nice buck. Glad you had fun and some luck.

Brent
I'll tell you what its not me my friend, its that little something special that has been put into a very SPEICAL BOW! Its just like those old camera commercials use to say, "Just Point and Shoot"
The only reason you don't see a whitetail buck on the ground is because I had already filled my "A" tag (buck tag). My 12yr old son Tanner had filled his "A" tag as well and Schuster only had "B" tags(doe tags) so that is all he/we could shoot with Miss Hope.
As far as Elk go, well that's my falt, I could not make the time to introduce Miss Hope with Mr Wapiti.
Thanks Again Brent, very well done!
-
Brian, You are very welcome. Seriously, I just get a kick out of this stuff. Special thanks to Terry and the gang for putting together a program like this...............and in the end, it goes to the kids. Frosting!
Well, since you done kilt more critters that blue tongue, what are you going to do for the rest of the season?
-
Now that's what we're talking about! Way to go Brian!
-
Miss Hope and I didn't make meat in the time we were together, however we saw some deer and spent some time in the beautiful autumn woods of Michigan.
She attended the 2nd Annual "Buck Jam" in Leota Michigan...where a few TG members and a MI bowyer were all able to shoot or hunt with her.
One thing special I did with Miss Hope, was launch a special arrow in rememberence of LeRoy "GoldenHawk" Carlson who attended our first Buck Jam.
Thanks to Brent for making a great bow for a great cause, and Tim/Rob for a sweet armguard knife combo!
Shawn she'll be in the mail today...best of luck to those who come next.

Drew, bow is here but I missed the postman. Did talked to him on the phone and he will deliver again tomorrow and I am ready to show some Iowa whitetials how she shoots.
-
oh boy shaun, she likes to hunt whitetails!!!!
-
She arrived and is a sweetie. For me it likes 80# spine cedars 28.5" BOP with 125 points. May get a chance to chase in town does soon. Feels like a meat harvester to me.
-
Good luck Shaun

Great stuff, Guys!!!

I'm looking forward to My time with Hope. Got 9 days of vacation scheduled.
-
Picked the bow up at the Post Office this morning.
Inside the case was a beautiful bow a sweet looking armgaurd and knife combo a log book and a broken arrow.
I read through the log book didn't see any info on the arrow.
I moved My vacation back a week it's supposed to be in the upper 70's till next Thursday. Hope to have a story or two to post. Time to see what arrows I have to shoot from this sweet little bow. bretto
-
bretto,
go get'em bud!!
-
Well hope and I didn't harvest a Kansas whitetail but we saw a couple of dandies.
Saturday morning watched 4 bucks chase a doe for 2 hours. A nice 9-pointer, 2 basket racked 8"s and one calcium deficient guy who had both sides of his rack busted off. Of course while all the excitement was going on a little buck with 6-inch spikes decided to stand and watch under My tree for 10 min. every time he would try and enter the field one of the 8's would run Him off. Then came the little button buck that I think may have belonged to the doe. I drew several times on both the little bucks for practice.
Monday morning I tried a different ridge. Shortly after daylight I heard grunting coming my way and looked up at the biggest 8-pointer I've ever seen while hunting. I tried grunting at Him and got his attention but He was on a mission and continued on His way 35 yards away from My tree.
Tuesday I set up further down the ridge in a blown down tree top. 8:15 I see long tines coming My way, thought I had Him pegged but a swirling wind got Me busted at about 15 yards. Oh well it was great just being that close.
Hope is on Her way to Ohio to hunt with Kenny Yoder I hope they have some great encounters also.
This is a great little bow. It is a surprise the first time You shoot it. Very pleasant to shoot and as light as any longbow I own.
Good luck Kenny.

My last night in Fla and my wife told me I got a long package in the mail. Me thinks Christmas has come a little early in Ohio!!
I'll keep you all posted!
-
Soooo......where are the ladies now? The rut has passed and no stories?
-
Looking forward to getting Hope for a spell in a few weeks. Should get to spend about a week in the woods with her. Hopefully we can put something together before I pass her on to Joel.
-
What is the draw weight on Hope? I will have her the second part of Jan. for some late season deer hunting. I was wondering if I need to get some arrows put together for her.
Thanks,
Charlie
-
Hope is 53# at 28" Charlie. It shot some GT 55/75 I had pretty well with 175 grs. up front. Good luck when Your turn comes around.
bretto
-
Dang it guys!! As part of the deal your supposed to post the stories here. How are we going to live through your adventures if you don't tell them?
Mike
-
I have to agree with wingnut on this one. Where is Hope? I saw the two does she took, but where else has she been? Two does is plenty enough, but she must have been other places too!
-Charlie
-
Yeah Mike, That's why I posted on the 1st...com'on guys....part of the deal is you have to share...
-
My secretary called and Hope is at the office. Kenny sent her a bit early which means we get to try her out a bit longer here in Florida and Georgia. The way my season has run I will need the extra time to try and get anything done with her. I will get her strung up and try to get some arrows flying right by the weekend. I have a treestand in mind to try her out of on Saturday afternoon. Maybe the Hope mojo will be good for me. I will post lies of epic proportion regardless. :archer:
-
good luck buddy!!!
-
the girl has alot of hunt left in her i'm sure.
good luck and go get'em

update ?? Just wondering how the Girls are doing...
-
I would be interested in what has been going on with the gals too. I know there was a bear taken with one that we never heard about. I built them for the kids, as long as they benefit, I have my payment. However, it does add some spice to the meal if we hear the stories. Thanks guys and gals. I am sure we would like to hear post dated stories.

I had Hope out for a spin over the weekend. Hogs and deer were not cooperating, though I had a close call with a couple of does. The MacDaddy of all armadillos was spotted and an intense stalk ensued. An arrow from our girl pinned the beast to a rotten pine stump, but the enormous nine-banded armadillo pried itself from the stump, ran down a hole and broke my $10 carbon arrow. I am Hope-ing for a more productive outing soon.
-
There we go! Opossum on the half shell. Great with salad.
-
Brent,
Que Pasta?
Sounds like the girls are having some fun out and about, making new friends.
Talk at ya later.
Jeff
-
My God Jeff,
Good to hear from you. I thought you done runt off an got kilt or sumthin. Here is some history for you guys, Jeff, aka. Unclewhit, was a great help to me when I was producing what you know as the Sheepeater Spirit back years ago. Formally the Glassic Bow Company's flag ship bow we called the "Sultan". I designed this bow around 1993ish as requested by a self bowyer who was wanting an eastern flavored static recurve with Turkish style. The Sultan, aka. Sheepeater, was born in the deep woods of East Texas. I brought the bow to Montana when we moved there in 1994. I met Jeff in 1996. He wanted to learn to build bows, and I wanted to learn flyfishing. We spent a lot of time together. He is a lot faster learner than I am. He learned to build bows faster than I learned to fly fish. Jeff, how do you tie that knot again anyway? Jeff stayed on for a while helping out at my bow shop. A meeting of fate that has blessed me and my family with a dear friend. Folks, meet Jeff Whitman. A good brother. Talented guide, fisherman, and one of the best hunters and bow shots I have ever known.
-
Da*n Brent,
I've only got two things to say, in reply:
1) I aint never been kilt in my life.
2) I am humbled by your words of kindness.
Merry Christmas to you & yours
Jeff & Celia

I'm getting Hope in about 2-3 weeks. Can't wait! She will be doing some Ohio deer and squirrel hunting. I hope I can continue her good mojo. She has been to some awesome places with fantastic people!
-Charlie
P.S. I moved since I signed up to take part in this. Who do I give my new address to?
-
Charlie,
Get in touch with rabbitman about your address change. Good luck bro.
Brent
-
Charlie....pm sent.
-
Charlie, did you get my PM ?
-
Got it and sent my new address.
Thanks
-
Hope is in Joel's hands. Good luck.
-
Updates, any updates on how the ladies are fairing ?
-
once again....com'on fellas...sharing is part of the deal with the ladies....
-
I was supposed to have Hope a week ago and haven't seen her...any details? Maybe Joel can just forward her to the next person after me? I'll be okay with that. The hunting trip I had planned to go on with her has come and gone.
-Charlie
-
Charlie, i replied to your PM, not sure how but i evidently screwed that up somehow. Sorry she didn' make the trip with you (due to the way my slot fell with our seasons i didn't get to hunt with her either, just a couple plinking sesssions). Whoever's got it for turkey season should do well, once i got the nock point height figured out it shot right where i looked and was quick, too.
Trying to locate her now, supposed to have gone out with UPS almost two weeks ago.
-
No worries Joel. Let's just find her. Did she get sent to my old address?
-Charlie
-
Any luck finding the bow? Has me worried a bit! Shawn
-
on the way to you tomorrow a.m.
did i read the list right and you have it the whole month of February ?
-
Both bows were reserved for group hunts in the month of February, as in past years, but Shawn's hunt was the only group to sign up. So yes, he will have both bows for that time period but with the large group that will be attending both gals will get lots of attention. Get those bows bloody Shawn.
-
Whew! Glad to hear she is on her way to Shawn. Hope you guys have fun with the girls!
-Charlie
-
Wow, glad to hear as I will have time to hunt them myself!! I may even hunt with the lefty!! I will do my best to bloody them!! OOOOHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
-
This really hurts!
I shot Hope at ATAR, and sure wish I could be bustin' bunnies with her up in Albany! Do her up proud, boys!
Killdeer
-
I hope to carry Miss Faith a lot at the hunt bud!!
-
I recieved Hope yesterday and I am hoping to have Faith soon!! I got her tuned up a bit and found few arrows that flew ok form her and hunted with her quick yesterday. just bunnies but it was fun. Today I took her out again and made meat with her! One shot, one dead bunny. Sorry no pics. but that will change by the weekend. I am getting a new camera Friday evening!! Shawn
-
nice, its about time she had some blood on her. it seems the girls arent getting nearly enough action this year! we'll have to put them through the ringer in a couple a weeks..
what did ya find flies well shaun???
gaff
-
72-75# woodies cut to 29.5"s and tapered at nock end. I have to find out about Faith! Shawn
-
shawn, I shot 35-55 GT's when I had hope. they flew great.
Good Luck Guys,
-
What have the girls been up to lately? Anyone???
-
They are at Shawn's chasing bunnies.
-
Guys we have both Hope and Faith, Doug Campbell made a kill at the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt with Hope!! Guru hunted Faith hard on Sat. and had two good hits on bunnies but none in the bag. i am sure they will both post there stories. I managed to kill a bunny with hope early last week before our annual hunt. Great lil' bows and was pleased as punch to have them at our hunt!! OOOOHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Shawn
-
I was fortunate enough to be this year's Special Guest to the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt where Miss Hope and Miss Faith were making thier appearance. The second day of the hunt I carried Miss Hope. Like I already knew she was a great shooter. I was able to shoot the 55/60 chundoo shafts I'd brought along for my old longbow out of her just fine.
Here's my favorite picture I brought home. Big Ed is my Hero and welcome at my fire anytime!! We ran this bunny a couple circles in the rose briers then he tried taking refuge under a log. Shooting thru an incredible bunch of trash Ed pinned him in with a quiver full of arrows, ;) I was able to finish the job with Miss Hope.

Thanks Brent for donating these two very nice bows to such a great cause!!
-
Cool pic! my left hand starts to tingle every time I see Miss Hope, we met at ATAR and my bow arm will never forget her!
Doug...did you hit that bunny in the NECK?
Killdeer :saywhat:

Right tween his two front teeth and out the back of his neck Killy, his nose was all I could see...
-
Evidently that was enough!
You have nerves of steel there, Doug. I can only imagine the petrifying fear that would freeze my very thoughts, seeing that gaping maw hurtling toward me, twin skulls of Death glaring from the enraged bunny's eyes...
Doesn't pay to cross you when you get a wild hare, eh?
Killdeer :biglaugh:
-
I've said it before, say it again, I aint sure what Killie just said, but it sure sounded purty. Doug, glad you got to shoot her again. Making meat, icing on the cake. The bride and I sure miss you guys up there on top of the world.
-
I sure would like to give that bow a good home when she gets done with her whirlwind tour.
Killdeer :archer:
-
Yep it was a supreme challenge Killy... :smileystooges:
Same here Brent, give Missy a hug for us.
-
Nice shooting Doug! Those little bows sure are shooters.
-
Any more updates on the ladies? Looking forward to taking Faith turkey hunting in a couple of weeks.
Bill
-
Me too Bill,
Hopefully she will have a little Kansas blood on her when I get it. :)
-
I was wondering who has em now???

I'll do my best Scott!

I think I am up for Hope next, so 'Hope'fully I'll get her soon!
Shawn
-
Anyone know where hope is at? I am on the list for her, but no sign of her yet.
Shawn
-
I was on the list before you superkodiak, and I never got here, I HOPE she's not lost in ciber space, but I've not seen her.
-
David sent her out March 6th., you should of had her right on time. I sent her 2-3 day mail. Why did ya wait so long to say something. I sent with delivery conformation and $750 insurance. I will dig the stuff out and see what is going on!! Shawn
-
David(Kingwouldbe)I just checked and I was a little late getting her out but it the USPS shows it was delivered to you on March 9th at 11:51 am.!! I have all the reciepts and insurance info as well and it was definitely delivered on March 9th. Shawn
-
My bad Shawn, I must of had my old address on the list, and I knew I was getting Her in March, forgot if it was the 1st part or 2nd part of march.
When Superkiak asked where she was at, I checked my dates and saw she should of been here and left already then I PM you.
I think this is my fault for not posting my new address, I got the postal # and I will find where she's at.
-
Hey guys,
First time checking out this thread. Looks like a great gesture since I've never shot a recurve and been considering it.
Anyhow, what are the draw weights for the bows? And is it OK to still sign up for late May, or June '09?
-
Any word on Hope???
-
:(
-
I went to the post office, then I went to my old house and left a note on the door for the owner to call me, not heard from him yet.
Post office said they delivered it there and someone signed for it, I have a call into the supervisor at the post office to see what they will do.
I feel so bad about this guys, I messed up, please forgive me for messing up your time with Hope.
-
are there any other times available for Hope? Kingwouldbe, it was just an honest mistake, in fact, I am moving at the end of the month and things get really crazy, so I completely understand how stuff like this happens. let's do what we can to get her back, for the KIDS! I will pray for her return.
and brother, I forgive because He forgave me. =)
-
There is HOPE :wavey:
I have located her and will pick her up to night :clapper:
I will send her out to:Chris Spikes "Landshark160"
I am vary sorry for this mess-up.

I sent out HOPE on Monday, but I was able to get a few pic's of her before she had to go.

She's a looker, I love the wood combo, I think this is the shortest bow I have ever shot, that was a big surprise.
The arm guard is one of the best I've ever seen and the knife was begging to stay with me.

The post office says I have a package waiting for me. I believe Miss Faith has landed in Kansas! I should pick her up tonight.
-
Nice to see the lady's doing what they were built for!
I bunny hunted for a day with Miss Faith and she shot tradlites with 200grs. up front like lazers!
Good Luck BMN, are you hunting turkeys?
-
Hey Curt,
Yes I plan on taking Faith turkey hunting. Season opened today but I'll have to wait until the weekend at least. This little gal should handle well in the blind.
I shot some AD lites and Grizzly Stik sitkas through her last night with 175 grs up front. The sitka's did a little better than the AD's. I'll give 200 grs a try and see how that works.

I was finally able to get Faith out for a turkey hunt. Following is my entry into the Faith journal for the day.
4/7/09
What a great day of turkey hunting! I just wish I could say the same for my shooting. Went out this morning and got set-up in an old bean field along a wooded creek bottom. Birds have traditionally roosted along the creek and come to the field to feed and strut. As the sun came up, I heard several gobbles along the creek and 4-5 were less than hundred yards away. Game on! I gave a few soft yelps and then waited for fly down. After hearing the birds fly down I started ramping up the calling. A quick peek out the back of the blind revealed two toms working their way towards my set-up. The first tom was double bearded and the second approached in full strut. They were both headed for my decoys and I readied Faith for the shot that was sure to come. The birds approached quickly and in no time were 20 yards out. I thought for sure they would head straight to my jake decoy just 10 yards in front of the blind. But instead they popped their heads up and were suddenly on full alert. They didn't like something and turned to walk away. I figured it was now or never so I drew Faith and let her fly. The arrow just skimmed the side of the double bearded bird, not even pulling a feather. A clean miss. The birds stuck around a few minutes out in the middle of the bean field before wandering off to the north.
Before they exited the field two more turkeys stepped into the field about 200 yards further down the creek bottom. Both of these birds were adult toms but they didn't seen interested in my decoys or calls at all. They eventually left the field following the same path as the first two birds. Shortly after they left, I noticed two turkeys at the far end of the field about 400 yards away. A quick check with the binoculars confirmed that they were both adult toms as well. I started calling and they slowly made their way across the bean field. They would strut and gobble every now and then but were in no hurry to get to the other side of the field. Once they got about 75 yards outside my decoys one of the birds finally made a break for it and starting running toward the decoys. The other bird would have none of that and joined the chase. The race was on! They were both running side-by-side and bumping into each other trying to cut the other one off. They reminded me of two Nascar drivers trading paint down the back stretch of a big race. I readied for the shot that was sure to come very soon. The problem was theses two birds did the same thing as the first two. As soon as they got to within about 20 yards they stopped and got very nervous. They knew something was not right and started walking away. I took a shot as they walked off but shot right over their back. Another clean miss.
That was it for the day. I never heard or saw another turkey but the first hour and a half was some of the fastest turkey action I have ever experienced. A day I will remember for a long time.
I enjoyed my time with Faith and really appreciate the opportunity to take a small part in this great Tradgang tradition. Thanks to Terry, Brent, Dick, and everyone else who makes this happen. Great job guys!
Good luck to those remaining on the Faith list. Hopefully I got all the misses out of her.
Good Hunting,
Bill
Here are a few pictures from my day in the field with Faith.
Her small stature makes for a perfect blind bow.
The set-up. How many bows do you think are in that hedge row? The osage in Faith is beautiful.

Faith outside the blind.
All packed up and ready for the walk out. Faith's light weight make her a joy to carry.
Well that's it. I'm going to pack Faith up this weekend and send her to the beautiful Missouri Ozarks. Good luck Scott! Keep us posted.
-
Faith is now in SW Missouri and waiting for some turkey action next Monday.
-
Good Luck..... I think I have her for the second part of our season....
-
:jumper: :jumper:
Hope is in North Carolina!!! OHHHHHYYEEEEAAAAHHH!!!!
David
-
Bill, Thank you so much for the turkey hunt. Felt like I was in the blind along side. That is a great spot you got there. Thank you for adding to the journey.
Brent
-
Took Faith for a turkey hunt in the rain this morning. Turkeys were talking but none would cooperate with us. We will try again tomorrow and hopefully get a picture or two.
-
Jonesin' for a Hope update...I like that lady!

Faith and I got set up early this morning.

But this guy was more of a lover than a fighter!
I guess he figured with 3 hens why fight a stupid jake for two more. :)

Alas, due to work and other unforseen events, my time with Hope was reduced to backyard shooting. She's a great little bow that I had "Hoped" to chase turkeys with, but it was not to be. I reluctantly put her in the mail yesterday. It has been such a treat just to hold a bow that has been touched by many and will touch many more in the future...
David
-
Faith and I were milliseconds from sending a shaft at a turkey this morning but they either saw some movement from me or a decoy and got nervous and never presented a clean shot. I have now got her packed and ready to continue the journey tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who made our time together possible. I am really looking forward to my new sheepeater now!
-
Great pics Scott! Thanks for sharing.
-
Faith is now in Texas for some turkey hunting...Hopefully all goes well...BLM
-
Glad she made it down Barry, I was just getting ready to get on the USPS sight and check to see if you had gotten her yet.
-
She is here and dialed in and ready to chase a few toms...now if work would let up a little...
-
Hope safely arrived to Erie, PA yesterday. My son and I opened the package and admired the great craftsmanship of this little bow. I'll try and post some pictures this weekend! I shot a few arrows out of her last night and instantly fell in love. I'll be headed into the woods tomorrow to chase some birds.
-
Miss Faith is in NY....
Since my turkey tags are filled....I'm gonna try to kill some carp with her...
Might even try for some 'chucks if I get some arrows tuned up
Hope to have some pix soon!
-
hope really got a nice tan lol
-
About to head out with Miss faith for some bowfishing....hopefully the water isn't too high and we see a few fish....
-
Miss Faith did get some action yesterday...story and hopefully pix to follow...
-
Last Sunday....went out with My buds Tim and Gary K.....order of the day was to get some action with Miss Faith....
Tim paddled the canoe and spotted a fish right in front of us with it's nose stuck in the weeds ans it's back out of the water......a perfect opportunity.....
fish weren't very active at all but we did see a couple more and my fourth shot resulted in this...
Miss Faith is a perfect bowfishing bow as she's only 50" long. But to be honest it was tuff bowfishing with a bow that you don't want to bang up.....Bowfishing is not for "taking it easy" on a bow. But I had to keep her nice for her new owner after the auction!

Glad I got the chance to give Faith a workout....she's a fine little bow Brent! Thanx bud :notworthy:
-
Nice ending Curt!
-
Well Terry, again, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be part of this worthy project. I can't tell you how much it means to me to be a small part of this effort every year. I am honored to share a bit with the kids. I thank God for St. Jude's Hospital and the work they do, Tradgang and the vision of the administrators, and most of all, I appreciate the generosity of the fine folks here that give selflessly. You are the finest group of people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Till next year, Good shooting and good hunting. Blessings on you all.
