Took some pics of my living room and thought some of you would enjoy them. I shot everything in the room with a longbow.

-
That is awesome Denny. I just love those gemsbok.
-
All with the longbow... wow dude, you da man! All very nice mounts. I can just imagine how the memories must flood your mind in that room.
-
Wow mate. A fine place if I ever seen one. A room that one could find himself day dreaming all day long in.
Just think how many critters would be in that room if you were taught to take your hunting boots off years ago!!... ;)
-
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
How many trips to africa did that take?? if ya dont mind my askin?
-
Very nice, i see that you like to do your workout in there also, good for you nothing like being in shape to stay sharp in the woods.
-
man that's pretty impressive . wish I had all the money you got tied up in that room . :bigsmyl:
-
Money? Tsk, tsk. I looked at that and thought of all the hours spent in the field, days of watching the doings of the Earth and her creatures. Truly priceless. There are some wonderful examples of the taxidermists' art as well, vibrant and lively representations of the animals' lives and moods. I wish my house had the kind of space yours does, as it presents the memories in a way that lets one see them all without being overwhelmed by the numbers, in an atmosphere of an airy cabin. What a comfortable place to sit and savor and reflect on hunts past. I would not need the TV in there.
Now, is that a horse's skull on the wall? Oh, and Killdeers are protected!! :p
Killdeer :archer:
-
Denny,Very nice, but i just gotta know-what do you do in your spare time?----LOL--- Bone
-
That Is SO "Not Right" LOL!!!!!
Beautiful room Denny!!!!! I could spend every spare moment in a room like that :bigsmyl:
-
I just want to know what the weight machine looked like after you shot it with a longbow!
Great room for some great animals!
-
Denny, That room is awesome. Man just to be able to see that many animals in their natual habitat would be a dream come true for me. Glad to see that from a fellow Michigander.
-
Ok I've come up with a brilliant idea.....charge jealous tradgangers(like me!) $5 for a tour of your trophy room and you would collect enough money to pay for many more trips and mounts! :bigsmyl: What a beautiful display!
-
Wow! That room took some real dedication to traditional bowhunting to fill up! You are truly a lucky man, as I'm sure you know. What a wonderful room to relive it all in. Thanks for having us over for a visit!
-
Denny you have more animals in your living room then all of John Ball Zoo! Awesome! Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
-
Denny, man that's awesome.
-
Awesome is the correct word!!! Now it's time to open the recurve wing. Hap
-
SWEET :bigsmyl:  :notworthy:
I see you are going to leave your kids a bunch of stuff to get rid of someday too! LOL
-
You da man!!WOW
-
awsome room........is that a Tin of Kodiak i saw on the desk? !!! :) ...
-
Awesome, You ain't married right. My wife would not even allow that. I would have to have a seperate house or addition. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :clapper: :clapper:
-
Great trophy room and awesome trophys to boot.
Denny, just curious, what have you got behind that pine? Did you use 3/4 or 1" plywood behind it all so you did not have to lookin for studs all the time. I've got a room to finish soon and was just wondering. For the big one's like buffalo, eland moose etc I like to use a 3/8 lag or bigger in some cases. My taxidermist is big in favour of 1" behind whatever.
-
WOW Denny, I always knew you were the man, but.....WOW! Anytime you want to come out to Idaho to get a big ol' bull elk to join that club, look me up, we'll see what we can do! Wow!
Semper Fi,
Mike

Very nice Denny. Good motivation for the bowflex and keeping stong enough to pull those heavy longbows. Computer tuned to Tradgang too. Thanks for sharing.

what ype of animal is that white\\gray deer in the middle of the top pic?, the one with half its body mounted
-
Ian,
That is a piebald whitetail, I believe. It's just a color variation that occurs.
Denny,
Definitely a beutiful trophy room with plenty of great memories to relive. I know that I can sit in my house, look around at the critters, and daydream about past adventures. Beats the heck out of TV. Brady
-
Denny, is there one animal that has extra special meaning to you?
-
Ian, That was the Piebald doe Denny shot. He wrote about it in TBM if I recall.

Most excellent Denny. Wish I had that ability. I sure do enjoy just sitting and watching and dreaming in places like that. A couple favorites of mine...in a bar in Baudette MN, there is a very large moose, mounted very well and hung low enough so that you can gaze at it and just let your mind wander as to what happened and where that moose has been. Another...a grizzly mount formerly in a US Attorney's office. It was mounted in a natural setting, on all fours, and with no sneer or teeth showing. If you walked up and looked it straight in the eyes, from just a few feet away, you cannot HELP but feel the hair on your neck just go straight up.
Thanks Denny

Incredible Denny! A room most of us dream about, full of wonderful memories....doesn't get any better than that....thanx for sharing bud
-
Killdeer, That's a zebra skull How do you know what a horse skull looks like? :)
Nakohe, Hey my wife has her trophys hanging in the dining room. Really!
Shifting Shadow, They are all special, but one does stand out. It's not in the room; it is the first doe I shot with a recurve at 13.
Thanks everyone. :)
-
Very nice room, sir!!
So when ya inviting us all over for a BBQ and poker tournament?
-
Hunt it, We installed 2x4 horizontal blocking between the studs on 32" centers. There isn't one splice in any of the boards. I hit a stud for the water buffalo. :)
-
nakohe: that's a beauty of a buck you got there!
-
Thanks, Rich. Got him 5 years ago in Mason county Texas. Free range no high fence. When we got the lease there were not many quality bucks. We started manageing and got him 4 years later. I got off of the lease last year and deer were still getting better. Two 11 points and several nice eights. The best part is it is only 350 acres, and all neighbors are low fence also.
Start a new one this year with exotics on it.
-
How could I NOT?!!
Killdeer~ no, neigh, never!!

Very impressive, Denny!

-
WOW!!! Very cool! I bet it makes it easier to lift in that environment- good motivation. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Matt
-
Well I'm inspired,, That is a great room, I really like that all your whitetail mounts have different poses and the African mounts are magnificient,, Thank for sharing Denny.
-
Denny, thanks for the pics, very nice indeed.
Next time you do a video, show your trophies and tell us about them. Alan
-
Longbows are just plain...COOL... :)Bowhuntr Den , yeah Buddy!!!!!!!!! :)
-
Denny, I would bet that your taxidermist has sent at least two of his (or her) kids through college on your tab. An impressive display, and it makes my little trophy "shed" seem like a bone yard.
That's Pearl chewing on something she picked out of the collection. There are at least six six point bulls in there, but I couldn't pull a couple out for the picture. And they all weren't taken with a longbow. Some were with a recurve way back when. My kids will probably make chandeliers or something with them. I keep all my Africa stuff in a storage room under a table, but am seriously considering getting an Oz buff mounted.
-
Denny your room is awesome. It is laid out perfect. I am building a house next year and have thought alot about my "bow" room. What height is the peak, 16'? I already planned on placing "nailers" in the correct spots.... LOL Thankyou for sharing.

-
Denny,
That is really awesome! Where is that sable that you wrote aboutin TB? I really liked that story and what a beautiful animal!
-
WOW!!!!!!
-
Very nice work. Does your taxidermist let you drive his Maserati? :D
-
Jason, Actualy my taxidermist is Bob Nancarrow, Monty Browning's hunting buddy. He does a great job at a reasonable price and get it done promptly. He drives a basic pickup like me. I think he spends too much on hunting trips. :)
JDS3, Yes the peak of the cathedral ceiling is just under 16'. If I could do it over I wouldn't go with a cathedral again. Too much hassle hanging mounts and cleaning. I would go with a 12' flat ceiling so I could roll around at one level on scaffolding.
-
Lefty, The sable is the pedestal mount left of the TV. He looks cooler from the side I think.
-
Beautiful room Denny, filled with about 5 lifetimes of memories. And you're still a young guy. :)
Denny is too modest to say so but he has some great video of that sable hunt. His grandkids are gonna be able to watch the ole boy in action for years and years to come.
-
Very nice indeed,I also shoot a longbow.
-
JDS#,
Denny's giving you good advice on the non cathederal route. My taxidemist designs trophy rooms and says 10 1/2ft - 12ft is best for many reasons. It is easier in long run for all mounting and cleaning tasks. He strongly suggests you use 3/4" plywood behind whatever you have on face of wall. If you do 10 -12 ft you can put plywood on top 4' all way around to save. It's easier in long run to do it all over wall and you'll never have to worry about where to hang stuff.
Denny,
Now that you have all that taxidermy in one place. Have you given any thought to treating mounts to prevent and bug problems. It only takes one bad beetle or even a moth to get in from outside and you have big problems. McKenzie the target guys also have big taxidermy division. They sell a product called PROTECK you buy it and use rag and atomizer to spray on mounts and work into hair on critters with long hair. It's around $30.00 a bottle and is cheap insurance for all the work you have there. It would probably take 3-4 bottles to do all you have there and every other year will do the trick. I have seen some real disasters with whole collections, as most of the time by the time anyone notices the damage is done. There is a company in the US that does travel around and provides a similar solution, but it's cheaper to do it yourself.
-
You are my HERO!!
Hatchet Jack
-
You are truly a lucky man....
-
How long do you think you could spend in telling the stories behind each trophy? That is an awesome collection.
-
WOW! Very impressive.
-
What a lifetime of memories! Way to go Denny!
-
Was thinking of doing some hunting but I can see now ...there ain't nothin left!!!
Awsome room Denny. Dreams of a life time.
Chort
-
Great, very nice pictures.
By the way, I noticed there is a longbow hanging over the door. Could you tell us something about that bow?
-
That's a Ron Maulding Bighorn longbow that was used by a good friend of mine.
-
ttt
-
Awesome! Hey I noticed the laptop on the desk is tuned in to tradgang.com
-
Denny, that is beautiful! I don't think you are a lucky man. I think you are a man who has worked hard to enjoy some great hunting. Way to go.
-
Note the laptop in the background. It's got the tradgang page on it.
-
DO you live in Cabela's?
Very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It will be a long time before I catch up to that kindof success rate - Good shooting!!!
Jake

Mine is not as impressive as Denny's but I can take him 2 out of 3 falls....

Everything in here was taken with a longbow as well. Except the turkey fans.
Notice the trash can right beside the treadmill....plastic lined..
-
Biggie , that is impressive! warm feeling to it for sure! :clapper:
-
It aint fair....
Some people have all the luck.... :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
Looks like an addition is in order if you plan on putting anything else on the wall.
Very nice!!
-
Biggie, "Notice the trash can right beside the treadmill".
When one is on a treadmill you need a place for the bones from the spent buffalo wings. It's placement makes perfect sense to me. Now all you need is a place for an ash tray... :saywhat:
It's a great room. There's a lot of memories hanging on your walls.
-
what is that tiny animal under the bear and right next to the javelina???
-
atlatlzoom, That is a steenbuck from Namibia.
Biggie, beautiful room! Hope I get to hang out there someday.
-
Denny; thank you for inviting us all to your special place;
I don't mean to upset anyone here on the gang but I must say this;
Denny is NOT lucky but is a prime example of hard core dedication; yes the hunts do take money and some of the hunts, ALOT of money, but careful planning, alot of hard work, and putting the priorities in place can produce alot of things;
I will strongly agree that Denny is blessed but Denny is no different than you or I; he is trully an example of what a person can accomplish if he/she becomes determined and sets goals and doesn't permit anything to get in the way; if anyone wants memories like this, then all it take is true dedication;
Denny, once again thank you and a tip of the camo hat to ya! :campfire: :archer:
-
benderofwood,
Especially well said. The proof of these fellas dedication resides on their walls and all I can do is applaud their accomplishments. When I see rooms like these I don't think of the money it cost, but the memories that must surround the hunter.
My hats of to all of of you--us, I suppose--that devote your lives to your passion. I can't think of a better arrangement.
Great stuff. And thanks to those who posted their photo. It pointed out the fact I need vaulted ceilings...well one day. Maybe....
-
I agree with Denny on the vaulted ceilings. Mine are 26' and the top 10' or so are gonna be useless. If you put anything up there, you can't see it well enough to appreciate it. Not only does it make it a female dog to hang stuff, but cleaning is a major operation as well..
Denny....all ya gotta do is show up brother
-
So Biggie, is that treadmill situated where it is to watch the tv or so the mounts can give you inspiration!! :readit:
Joe
-
Very, very nice guys. Thanks for sharing!
Claudia
-
Denny,
AWESOME room! Truly shows your dedication to your craftsmanship and your passion. Just a couple burning questions since you said that you shot everything in the room with a longbow.
1) Where's the best shot placement for a plasma flatscreen and recliner?
2) What did the other customers do at the store when you shot the aforementioned furniture? :smileystooges:
Seriously, great displays and thank you for sharing your passion with all of us.
DD
-
Wait a minute here! Biggie is that a real treadmill in your trophy room? Where are the barbells, dumbells, bowflex machine??? I'm impressed...I think? Uncle Barry says you've never actually turned it on...
Pete
-
So Biggie,
Is the plastic lined trash can to spit your tobacco juice in or to urp in when the treadmill gets the best of you ???
If it's to barf in let me suggest getting a bigger version.
-
Peter! I use it every morning right before I go to Cracker Barrell and have Uncle Hershels Breakfast. The bowflex is good for hanging clothes on to dry.
The Dr. told me to go easy on the treadmill, not to try and do too much right off so the 1st day, I turned it on and watched it run for 30 minutes.
Pat...You know how bowhunters are...the challenge is greater to hit a smaller basket :)
My wife agrees with you though
Joe...Trust me, there is NOTHING on tv to inspire me to do anything :-)
-
Wow...that an awesome room!!! Absolutely beautiful. Is your home a log cabin?
-
Most impressive!
-
Biggie,
I love ya brutha!! Don't ever change!

"Dad, where does Jesus live?...Well son, he lives in your heart...Dad, I wanna live in your heart with Jesus." "Oh Son, you already do."

-
Thanks for sharing guys wonderful pics hope some day my den looks like that PS how did you sell your wifes on the camo furniture?
-
I like that you watch TV and the animals are watching you.
-
"PS how did you sell your wifes on the camo furniture?"
Mine is called the Man-cave....wives are admitted by invitation only.
-
Here's another one....
-
Man, if I ever get my pants back from my wife I am going to build me something like that! You guys are blessed and thanks for sharing.
-
You truly are blessed to have had the chance to hunt all of those animals, and cherish the memories in such a beautiful room.
-
(http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e322/rayhammond123/PICT0007.jpg)
here's part of mine.
I can't find all the ones I have of it..maybe they are at home. I agree with the mistake of choosing vaulted ceilings..difficult to hang stuff, a lot of wasted space, and cleaning is tough!
I'm trying to find a picture of my caribou that is mounted, and hung on the vaulted ceiling, up high. He measured 367 P&Y..but he looks like a dink cause he is up so high you have no reference and cannot see it well that high up.
If I can find it you will see what I mean.
