lots of public land, couple million acres, in the ouchita (west central ark.) and Ozark (north west/north central) National forests. Climate is pretty moderate compared to CT. ie: coldest high temp so far this year has been around 30, lowest low around 20 Summer gets pretty hot usually over 100 and in the 90's for several days with a high humidity. makes ya want to go to Co. elk huntin in sept! good game abundance but it is hilly in NW ark. but if ya like fishing it is a paradise with all the lakes and rivers, Hiking and all out door activities are very popular in this area.  Dont really know your interests or intentions but there is alot of hunting here with a 5 month bow season.

I've heard some good things about bowhunting public land in Ark. I've about soured on the lease hunting in Texas.
