Well folks, its finally getting to be bow building season (winter) and I am running with scissors. That is, I am trying my hand at the glass bow building game.
Based my form on a '55 Kodiak limb shape. Home ground walnut lams, solid osage riser, buf horn tips and handle overlay. Glass, fire hose and smooth on from Binghams.
Just finished roughing out the riser this evening. Need to refile the nocks and hand sand, then it will be time to try it out. Before cutting the riser, it was 57 @ 28 and I hope to end up in the low 50's after sanding.

Looking good Shaun. How wide are your limbs and how thick are the lams ?
looked great shaun....keep it up....waiting on my stuff from binghams now....
 Lookin good buddy!
Looks great Shaun!!
Bone lake,
limbs started 1.5" wide and taper. Lams are .011 thick parallel and .012 butt with .002/in taper. Glass is .050 both sides.
Finished sanding, put on a coat of Tru Oil and will be making a proper string later today. Will try to post finished picks after I try shooting it (where did I put my motorcycle helmet?).
Looking good Shaun.
If you ever want to build a longbow, i have a couple forms you can look at and use if you want.

Finished draw wt 52 @ 28. Couple of minor flaws and the top limb bends a little more than the bottom right out of the fade, but it shoots and WOW! is it quick. For a first try I am very pleased. Custom fit the handle and horn overlays came out nice. Learned a lot and ready to try again.
That's a 29" BOP arrow so "full" draw pic is about 27"
