Title: Flu Flu's
Post by: Mitch Otto on December 30, 2007, 07:45:00 PM
Anyone have any advice on starting squirrel hunting with Flu Flu arrows.  I just got half a dozen of 'em and was just wondering if anyone has any useful tips that I ought to know, any lessons that can be taught rather than learned in the woods. Thanks!

Yup......what he said....Flu-flu's don't come out of a tree branch or trunk any easier than a standard fletched arrow....   :saywhat:

Try to shoot em on the ground.  You won't lose so many arrows.  Keeping your dad straight?

I agree!

Sky and I have a rule.  No shooting higher than you can reach.  I don't go up trees for much and an arrow is not a good reason for me.

If your gonna shoot them in the trees ya gotta use blunts. On the ground it doesn't matter what you shoot em with. Just stay away from field points!! They are tough critters and might get up and run off even when you hit them perfect. If ya don't believe me, just ask this guy!   :goldtooth:

Look forward to seeing you guys in June.

Any story behind that pic you'd like to share with us, Chad?    :bigsmyl:

That was the ground squirrel Mitch's brother Derrick shot last June. Right after the pic was taken, he laid it down to shoot again and it got up and ran off. Not much of a blood trail either!  :D

Good eating  :bigsmyl:   ...well, nothing spectacular, but munching on one sure has made an interesting conversational piece

Squirrels are too quick for flu-flu's... at least that's the excuse I give for missing 'em so much.

From what I hear, you saw more deer today while you were out squirrel huntin than you saw all year long.

Christmas break is almost over bud...back to the books come Monday.  What are you taking this semester anyway?  Basket weaving, broadhead sharpening, selfbows 101??????

The young man has a nice hat.

I haven't gotten a hex stuck in wood yet, but I did get one caught in the bark of a white oak on its decent once. Luckily it was about 12 feet up and I was able to knock it out.

Judos on the other hand I have gotten flat stuck in trees.  They don't always glance off!

Oh ya, aim for the head lol.
