Havn't gotten to deer hunt much this season, but the squirrels have sure been bitin'!
I've managed to put enough of them in the freezer to keep the wolf away.

Always a fine meal...
What points are you shooting 'em with, cause it looks like the one in your left hand was almost cut in half...
I use a modified field point. Best thing I've found for shooting up in the air. I like cheapie broadheads when they run on the ground.
Man,I like squirrel pie.Haven't hunted them for a couple of years. My weapon of choice was a .22 mostly. But I have killed two fox squirrels and 1 grey squirrel with my bow. :campfire:
Love to hear your recipe...
Everyone on my floor in residence thinks I'm weird because I told them how good squirrel tastes.
My son and I were eating lunch together today, I asked him what his favorite food is. His reply squirrel, I thought that was kind of a different answer than you would get from an average kid now a days.
Good shootin John.....
good shootin' John, I love chasin' the squirrels myself, although this time of year it's pretty hard to get close to them around these parts. Unfortunatly I've found around here that the best time to hunt em' is the same time as deer season, and chasin' them bushytails has cost me a couple missed shot opportunities at deer over the years... but it's hard for me to resist putting a stalk on a squirrel. If you've got a recipe for squirrel pie, I'd love to have it.

A variation: Simmer squirrel(s) in 1/2 water 1/2 white wine till you can debone. Make a white sauce (butter/flour & milk) add squirrel, peas and little pearl onions. Place in a deep glass baking dish and put a rolled out layer of Buisquik on top and bake till browned. Mmmmm
