Seriously considering buying a 62inch Lynn Harrelson Longbow. The bow shoots great for me but need some views on shooting a bow that long out of a tree stand.
I had no issues shooting my 62" Lb out of stands. Of course I was only shooting at squirrels and leaves. Guess it would depend on what type of stand too...
I guess alot depends on the stand you are using and how you set it up.You can have problems with very short bows if you set up the stand too tight. I shoot a 62" Robertson with no problems from the stand. I know guys who shoot alot longer longbows from stands with no problem. In fact 62" is a little short as far as longbows go.
I shoot my 64" out of all my stands with no problem, have shot 68" too. The deer in my avatar was taken with a 68" from a stand at bout 7 yds.
Remember a 64" is only 2" longer on each end than a 60". When I get in a stand for the first time,I always draw and check every possible shot I can to check clearance.
Short answer- No worries!
I have a 62" Massie that I shoot out of a tree stand,know problem.
Practice from the stand and be aware of limbs, the stand, etc. I regularly use a 66" longbow, and have shot my 72" selfbow from my stand.

I shoot my 62" Possum Stik out of a Treesaddle and my Loggy and haven't had any problems.
I have and shoot a 60", a 62" and three 64" longbows. The 62" is a great length but I do most of my hunting in tree stands, on tri-pods and on the ground with my 64" bows. Never had a length problem. Course I trim my stands to meet my needs.
I shoot a 62" BW longbow out of tree stands-- just have to clear for the limbs.
I killed my doe from a ladder stand with my 62" Mahaska longbow last year. I had no issues with the length of the bow. I even shot some practice shots out of my Eastman ground blind.
If you like the bow and can shoot it well, buy it! The length shouldn't be an issue in my experience.
I've got a friend who's deadly with a 64" recurve from his stands. Makes me sick because I have always felt I needed a short bow for tree-stand hunting. He's more successfull than me and doesn't complain at all. It is entirely possible with the right preparation and attitude.
I used my 66" LAG this year with no problems. I think the 62" will work great for you. Mike
I shot two 62" TurkeyCreeks out of a LOGGY, a 64" Saxon and a 64" Horne's Traditionalist no problemo.....I actually feel more confident and comfortable shooting a slightly longer bow for some reason.
I shoot a 64" Hill out of trees and also a pop up ground blind. I had a 62" i had no trouble with that either.
I have mostly hunted w/ my 58" recurve outa tree stands but I switched to my 68" longbow this year and found it was not really that much different. Just practice from a tree and you should be all set. Good luck!!
