Title: We lost another one...
Post by: Doc Nock on May 02, 2016, 11:43:00 AM
Some here may not remember the name, but I got a call from a lady telling me my old friend, Ed Schlief, of the original Alaska Bowhunting supply lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosus (I think that is right).

Ed has shared with me via a call that he had the ailment, nothing to be done to treat it and his sister called last evening to share he'd passed on.

AK Bowhunting was a big contributor to some stuff in Trad...for years.  He came to Denton Hill shoot annually for several years where our friendship was solidified.  I didn't have $$ to make a fishing trip up at his invite, but he was special.

He turned over the biz to his Son, Garrett, and had many fine friends.  The story is that he was alert and stopped treatments in the hospital that weren't helping, then enjoyed his family and friends together over a last wine tasting, joking and laughing with all, a circle of hands, prayers and he went to sleep.

I will miss his antics and emails.  Trad lost another devout fan!

I saw Joebuck posted on PW... I don't post deaths on PW, but he got away with it...

I'm sure his family will appreciate the prayers!

As one poster said, they broke the mold on that one in ole Ed!

Doc and Galen it sounds like Ed really knew that "It Is Well with His Soul" and having that last toast with Family by his side when most will be mourning and not wanting to let go shows Ed was at peace with his life leaving earth and entering into the promised land .
What a way to say "So Long" to family and friends.
My prayers are with those who don't know that there Is a Heaven and we all can eat freely at the Great Supper Table one day if we accept Jesus in our heart.
Sounds to me Ed made the choice to follow Jesus sometime in his life and that is a cause for a Celebration as Galen has said in his post.
Amen Galen for posting that simple word "Celebration"!
